Customer Review: The lamp is not replaceable

I was considering buying this product to replace a defective sunrise (dawn) simulator that I have enjoyed using. I was attracted by its energy efficient bulb, in contrast to the incandescent bulb that my prior unit used. However, on reviewing the product user manual, I found the following entry in the troubleshooting section:
Problem: The appliance functions properly, but the lamp does not work anymore.
Solution: Perhaps the lamp has reached the end of its life. The lamp has
an expected life of more than 10,000 hours (more than 7 years of
normal use). The life depends on the use of the appliance. In case of
heavy use, the lamp may not last as long as you expect. The lamp is not
replaceable. If the lamp breaks down, contact the Philips Consumer
Care Centre in your country.
The fact that the lamp is not replaceable is not disclosed in the promotional material. I decided not to buy the unit.

Customer Review: So close to perfection, but do not buy

I love this alarm clock. I'm a super busy mom that goes to bed late and wakes up early to get my workout in -and I credit this clock with me being able to get going at 5:00am every day. It took a little while and it wasn't magic, but it is still a much easier wake up than the old alarm clock and usually I only hit snooze once (although there are exceptions to this)
Here is my problem -after 6months of owning it -the radio comes on randomly. Sometimes at 2:00am and sometimes at 5:00pm. I don't even use the radio to get up in the morning -I use the light and the chime. It has been two weeks of this. I called Phillips and they told me to unplug it for 2 mins and then see if that fixes it.
Seriously -there is no reason for this to happen unless the insides are crap! I so want this to work -it was a splurge for me and I really can't afford to replace it right now.

This product quit working after less than a year. The dials/buttons are difficult to use. After about 6 months of use I couldn't rely on the the actual alarm sounds to go off so I had to use a back up alarm. Then a few months later the alarm would start going off randomly during the day and in the middle of the night. Then the dial/button for adjusting the alarm time quit working. Very dissappointed. Having invested this much money it should have lasted a LOT longer.Customer Review: Wake-up light

To whom it may concern;
I find waking up to a very bright light a better a interesting idea. However setting-up that light for normal use is, well, so far I haven't been able to. The instructions are not so clear and setting-up the time and alarm are impossible it seems. So for now I have to give it a very low score.

Customer Review: Do Not Buy! You cannot replace the bulb in this unit!!!!!

The unit worked great for a month and a half, then the bulb died. After doing some research, I found that you cannot replace the bulb, you have to replace the unit!! I called philips and they agreed to send me a new unit, but would not upgrade me to the newer model that you can replace the bulb in! So basically, you pay over $100, then when the bulb dies, you just through it away!
