I have been shaving my face with Norelco razors for over 30 years and the last 4 or so I have been shaving my head as well. The added stress on the razor is huge. While I probably have had 3 razors in the space of the first 20 years of shaving I have had three in the last 5 years including this one. While I was satisfied with the previous versions of the Norelco this one stands out. It does a much better job on my head without sacrificing the quality on my face. Time will tell on the life of this razor, but I can already testify the quality of the shave is outstanding.Customer Review: Norelco 1050CC arcitec shaving system

I have used a regular razor for years and was getting tired of expensive blades and cuts and nicks. I finally decided to try an electric razor again after having had one years ago and not being satisfied with the shave I was getting. I must say I am very happy with the arcitec shaver from Norelco! It's quick and easy and gives a good close shave. I love the fact that it automatically cleans itself which makes my life easier and prolongs the life of the rotary blades. I recently read reviews of the Arcitec before buying it. The reviews generally indicated that it was an OK product but not any better than the XL. Based on reviews I purchased new heads for the XL to make it a fair contest. The Aritec was a considerably faster shave especially in area of the neck. It might be a little closer and more comfortable. Also, cleaning it is a great deal easier. I am planning to give the Excel with the new blades to my son in law. JimCustomer Review: Charging Issues

I love the razor and cleaner. The only issue I have is that the if you let the cleaner go through the entire cycle it will charge the battery even when you are told in the instructions to fully discharge the battery before charging. The problem is easily solved by unpluging the cleaning stand right after cleaning is complete. When fully discahrged I let it run the full cycle. The razor shaves as promiced and gets places that I couldn't with my spectra!Customer Review: Norelco 1050CC

Great shaver. Cleaning machine works well but is very heavy - not practical for travel.
Pod intended for travel protects the shaver very well, but is very heavy. Unfortunately, the shaver must be in the pod or cleaning machine to charge it. The good news is that you can go a long time between charges, so for a short trip you just take the shaver.
