Customer Review: Looking for blade replacement.!

Having been connected with the Marine Corps for over 40 years, early in my career I began searching for a blade replacement because I had sensitive skin and was often cutting myself.
It didn't take long to realize that with a foil shaver, the slightest rip in the foil could cause a good amount of bloodletting. So over the years the quest has been to find the best rotary. I thought the state of the art had been exhausted until I encountered the 8140XL. Although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it does give a close shave having the greater shaving area; gives a faster shave. I am surprised how powerful, yet quiet it is, and always holds a charge for at least 2 weeks. Am most satisfied.

I have used blade and electric off and on. My beard grows patchy, with some areas growing fast and others not so fast. Also, I have some straight areas and other curved areas.
I did the full 21 days and found that this razor is close and does not irritate my skin so that instead of using a blade every other day (and wondering if my patchy shadow will pass on day 2), I can shave every morning. In addition, it is light and quiet, so that shaving is a not so bad experience. The best is that I can rinse it under the sink. The other foil I used previously irritated my skin after a while and didn't rinse at all, so I am pleased
I think the expanded cutting area makes the shave better.

I'm in my forties and have never used an electric shaver before. Got this model for myself as a Christmas present, as of this writing, two weeks of use and am very, very happy with it, with one exception. I will upgrade my next model so it will have the low battery indicator. My luck with keeping batteries charged and 'healthy' so they don't die completely too early is always a concern and I don't want to be bothered with trying to figure out when it's best to recharge. This model is extremely easy to clean by opening the top and running water through it. Haven't yet taken apart the shaver parts and clean monthly as the instruction booklet recommends.Customer Review: FAST and CLOSE

My old Norelco wore out - battery wouldn't hold a charge, and blades got dull. After months of shaving for what seemed like 15 minutes a day, I thought it must be time to get a new one. AM I GLAD I DID! The 8140 gives me a really close shave in just one or two passes on the beard - literally done in 30 seconds or less. The old one never did well on the jaw line, and this one mows it right down. Plus, it's lighter, quieter, and you can rinse the head with water. You don't have to use the charging stand if your don't want more stuff stacked up on the counters - the cord that fits the stand also fits the shaver. GREAT TOOL!Customer Review: Great and Quiet

I've always been a Norelco man. In my mind, it isn't as "neat" as my last Norelco 5885XL. That model had a LCD that told you how many shaves you had left, it would tell you when to clean it, etc.
This new shaver is cute. It's real quiet. It's so quiet at first I thought it wasn't very powerful because it doesn't "sound" powerful. But after several months of use I have grown accustomed to it and really like it.
I do like the stand where I can set it and it stays charged. And you can rinse the heads under the water faucet.
So all in all, I would recommend buying this shaver.
