Customer Review: a perfect electric razor
Summary: 5 Stars

Light weight, smooth shave and quiet operation. Long lasting charge of 17 days. I liked it so much I ordered one for my son and he loves his also.

Customer Review: 8151 Speed XL - A decent shaver
Summary: 4 Stars

I've tried many different electric razors, but seem to keep coming back to the Norelcos. I had a couple of Braun foil razors which I feel gave me a slightly better (closer) shave, but they did not catch the clippings leaving a terrible mess after each shave, and the battery life (between charges) and longevity (life a razor) was poor. And the Brauns were more expensive.

I was fairly happy with my previous Norelco, a 7845XL, but after 6 years the battery was only good for one or maybe two shaves, so it was time for a new one. The 8151XL seemed like a comparable unit. I also like the car charger, which is handy when on the go or if you are traveling by car and have forgotten the wall charger.

I replaced the heads in my old shaver annually, and they were due again, but I think the 8151XL gives a slightly closer shave. It does take several passes in different directions to get a close shave all over, but having been an electric user for years I'm accustomed to this. I did not notice much irritation with the new razor, in fact I'm sure I had more with the 7845XL, but that might have been because the heads were toast.

The rinseable shaving heads and whisker-catcher area is a nice feature which I like very much. It will be interesting to see if this improves head life. The low battery light seems silly to mention as a feature, but I will admit I was alarmed that slightly less expensive models didn't have it - it's like seat belts, it should be standard equipment on all models. The trimmer works great, as with previous models.

Overall, this shaver did not [...] away. But as far as electric razors go, this one is pretty good and I'm quite happy with it.

Customer Review: Consider using a blade.
Summary: 2 Stars

I've owned a 8140Xl for a little over a year. I've just ordered new blades from Amazon. I'm not happy about a shaver that requires replacement parts that soon. From the beginning the quality/closeness of the shave was inadequate. I'm considering going back to a blade.

On the plus side, the unit holds a charge well. I'd estimate a clean shaven man could go, at least, a week between charges. The unit charges fully in just a few hours, too.

I don't like the shape, either. I've never dropped it but it feels awkward.
