Customer Reviews of Philips Norelco BG2020 Bodygroom ShaverCustomer Review: The "Bodygroom" Summary: 5 Stars
If you are insecure about the body grooming process and are not comfortable about his subject "STOP READING THIS NOW". This was meant for informational purposes only.
Yes, the rumors are true...I am now the proud owner of the Norelco "Bodygroom". And let me just say this "A+ Norelco, well done". Now lets get into my formal review of the product.
Appearance: Very nice, comes with a charging stand...fits in your hand nicely...easy to hold on to at awkward angles. Trimmer guards are a nice clear bright blue color...easy to find in the messiest of drawers. They are easy to pop on, however they can be stubborn to get off.
Underarm Hair:
This area was the most time consuming...the product did its job, however I would use it in conjunction with something a little more beefy to knock it down first...this is probably a first time only concern as follow-up jobs will be much easier.
Chest and Ab Hair:
No problems, a very nice look obtained with the number 2 guard.
Groin:
Lets just say the "Bodygroom" is Shaft, Beanbag, and Starfish safe. No nicks or any pain...no worries...that does not mean go in there like a maniac...take your time...the two trimmers on the front and back(allow for push or pull stroke) knock down the forest while the foil on top produced nice smooth skin...Like any shaving product redness and skin irritation are inevitable (24 hrs later), however I noticed that the skin irritation was only about one third that of standard Mach 3 shave. The skin irritation was limited to the inner thighs (Shaft, Beanbag, and Starfish showed no signs of irritation)....Here is a word of warning, if you are a hairy man in the posterior / back (buttocks cheeks) region, I would not suggest going bald there...although the bodygroom does yield very smooth results, re-growth maybe a little annoying.
All in All the boodygroom is a great product and offers a safe way to prep those sensitive areas. I can not at this time give you a female perspective on this product...I can only assume that it will yeild similar results...I will keep you informed of any new developments.
Customer Review: This product meets or exceeds all expectations and advertising Summary: 5 Stars
Here's the scoop, simply: it gets 5 stars because it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and it does it well. In ten minutes, I painlessly shaved hair from the parts of my body that I wanted to. No pinching, no rash, no blood, no problem. I didn't even bother with the extra accessories; I used it as is right out of the box. People often think that because extra stuff is included, it has to be used, but usually it's not needed. It's just for special cases, like apemen and werewolves, or maybe guys who for some reason like to make complex designs in their body hair. Hence, there's complaints about accessories falling off too easily or not coming off easily...but those 'problems' won't affect you at all if you're a fairly normal person who knows you don't always have to use every accessory included with an item. I left those cheap plastic blue things in the box and can't say that my life has been deprived in any way as a result.
It's not gonna shave you anywhere near as close as a blade, but it's the best alternative, since you're not gonna be using a blade on sensitive areas.
There's some lobotomy victims out there trying to use this thing on their face and complaining that it doesn't work well - just ignore their comments. If they can't even read the box, their opinions are of questionable merit.
Bottom line is, how well this works for you depends on how thick your body hair is, what type of hair it is, and where you're shaving. I recommend it as the best product on the market for what it does - it's not a miracle product but it works just fine for me. Might be a different experience for you. Only one way to find out: try it yourself, and return it if you don't like it. That's what return policies are for. But just remember - DON'T use it on your face, or as a hammer, or as a q-tip, or as a remote control. It is for shaving your body hair. That's why it's called a body groomer. To be even more specific, it's primarily designed for painless trimming of your private areas. They just can't show a guy shaving his family jewels on the box, that's all.
Customer Review: Closest Shave your private's will ever get. Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is awesome! I was a bit skeptical at first i must say....i have used other shavers in the past on those "sensitive" areas below the waistline, and have broken out in rashes and bumps, nicks and cuts and have not gotten close shaves before. But even the first time i tried the Bodygroomer, i was impressed...first off...there was no rash...no nicks or cuts, it was the closest shave iv'e ever had before, and i used it on my family jewels first with a little fear..but after a few seconds...with no fear at all! just plain pressure..no worries.
On a full charge it has more than enough power to do the job necessary for more than 1 shave job, even for a gorrilla, but i usually charge it between shaves just to be safe. It can be used in the shower so it says, but i havent tested out that feature...dry shave gets more done for me personnaly. It cleans up really well..the head pops off ...I'm talking about the razor part of the bodygroom, for cleaning...you can run it under water, and clean it with a brush (included) and then rinse off the body of the unit under water as well, then dry off the whole thing....then recharge it on the included stand..which is pretty nifty looking on your dresser. The razor part of the bodygroomer has a foil part in the middle of it which is smooth for the close up sensitive parts of your body..you know which ones were talkin bout here....come on...think about what a squirrell eats....,then it also has on the top and bottom part of the razor unit a piece that sort of extends up and a piece that extends down sort of like those old norelco shavers that had those pop up sideburn trimmers on the backside of the electric shavers. these extestions are for trimming the hedges...or the rough grassy areas of your forest. It does a superb job i must say. All in all, I give this unit an A+ for 2 reasons, 1: It works great , as advertised. and 2: the cost factor, it's not that expensive. Especially for a product that actually does the job on your private parts. Hope you found this helpfull. Enjoy!!
Customer Review: Perfect for below and better than expected for back Summary: 5 Stars
Unless you want to spend a lot of time....and always use a fresh razor....this gadget is the obvious solution. I've only used it dry...not in the shower. Perfect and clean below...no kicks anywhere with good control. The surprise comes with my back and shoulders...which has course fast growing hair which I HATE. Even a sharp razer would not reach and cut (can't get the right angle) the finer hair along my spine or the stubble on the sides of my back below my shoulders....plus the razer...or even nair....take time...and or smell like chemicals....or is hard on the skin from repetitively trying to cut the course hair. This product can be used quickly...daily or ever couple days. Daily so it feels smooth...every couple days...so that no one can tell that you have shaved those areas....and it looks great now...I can see the muscle tone I worked so hard for. The attachments work fine for longer hair on my chest and arms...so that they blend into the shave areas naturally. Only problem.....some areas still dont get perfectly smooth....but then again...even razers didn't unless you have someone do it for you because I can't reach some areas and shave "against" the grain. Also....without the attachment...just as a razer...it still has teeth on the leading and trailing edge for longer hair...and they are protected and have not cut or nicked me...(yet!). It's quick...private...and I put it on the charger once a week for overnight...just like my electric toothbrush!!! One suggestion....if you have a real expensive electric razer...you can use that on some easy to reach spots to get super close. I'd like to see a more expensive....and higher percision version of this someday. Great value!
Customer Review: easy to use for a first-timer, got good results Summary: 5 Stars
Being an older gent, I grew up in the era before "manscaping", back in the days when having body hair, and lots of it, meant you were a grown-up, manly-man. Well, times change, and so I decided to get with the times and do a bit of manscaping on myself. I ordered up the Philips-Norelco BG2020 Bodygroom. It arrived with Amazon's usual alacrity.
Now, I'd never done anything like this before, and let me tell you, I'm hairier'n a Wookiee. A real walking carpet. So when I got the Bodygroom I charged it up and had at. A few minutes later, the "rug" was gone and I had some nice hardwood floors, if'n you know what I mean. And it was a comfortable, easy process. Not a nick or a cut anywhere, and not a moment's discomfort, even when clearing the undergrowth on some, shall we say, rather sensitive areas.
Well, what can I say. I like the way I look now. Hopefully anyone in a position to look likes it too. :-) And the ease of using this shaver is going to make "buildings and grounds" maintenance as easy as the shave I give my face every day.
My only disappointment is the lack of a charging status light on either the unit or the charger base. Since there's not a real positive "click" when the unit slides into the base, some sort of confirmation that you're indeed charging the battery--and of when it's fully charged--would be nice. But that's a fairly minor flaw in an otherwise high-quality appliance.
So yeah: Total n00b takes unfamiliar appliance to sensitive parts of his body, performs unfamiliar procedure, gets good results. It doesn't get much better'n that, folks. Definitely recommended.
