Based on my dentist's recommendation, I switched to an electric toothbrush, and ran across this one. I wasn't disappointed. The Sonicare left my teeth looking very white after just one use, and my teeth just feel cleaner than ever. As a tea drinker, I contend with the stains that tea leaves. After my dentist recommended against using the whitening toothpastes, due to their abrasiveness to gums, I thought I was going to be stuck with healthier gums but stained teeth. Sonicare without whitening toothpaste makes my teeth look better than they did when I was using a regular toothbrush with whitening toothpaste. (I feel like a ditsy, smiling spokesmodel here but I really was impressed.)
My only complaint has been getting used to brushing with an electric toothbrush--a problem I suspect I would have with ANY electric toothbrush. You have to get in the habit of putting the Sonicare in your mouth, and closing your lips around the brush BEFORE you turn it on. Otherwise, you wind up with toothpaste decorating your bathroom mirror, your clothes, and pretty much the entire area around your bathroom sink. This isn't something easy to remember when your half awake and brushing your teeth. My other only complaint (OK, I guess I have two) is that Sonicare turns off after about two minutes, the time it has determined it should take you to brush your teeth. Being a little slower with things, I would rather turn it off when I'M done, not when it thinks I should be done. Apparently this design feature is to avoid over brushing. Since you can turn the Sonicare right back on again, this isn't a problem.
I can't speak for how long the charge lasts as I have left it on the charging stand when not in use. Apparently, however, the Sonicare is designed to hold a charge for quite a few hours, to allow you to take it with you while traveling, for instance, without having to bring the entire charging stand along.

I love my Sonicare, it really gets my teeth clean and white. They give you 28 days to see results, but I started getting results in 7 days. My dentist was real pleased that I bought this Sonicare. This does an excellent job of cleaning my teeth. It does a poor job of getting into the area between teeth, but I'm not sure any toothbrush could do better. I haven't had a problem with my teeth in the five years I have owned mine. In fact the person who cleans my teeth gave me lots of praise on how clean I keep my teeth.The replacement brush heads are pricey for what they are.
I just found out it only lasts about five years and then you have to buy a new one. I went on vacation and didn't charge mine for five days and it went dead. Now it won't recharge at all so apparantly the battery is shot. It makes me mad that they make a product that isn't cheap that has to be thrown out (actually sent somewhere to be recycled!) after five years instead of making it so you can replace the battery.
However, I like the way it cleans so much I'm going to buy another one. Get the cheapest model. Do you really need a little timer that tells you when to clean each of the four quadrants of your mouth for extra? I don't!

I purchased this toothbrush for my family in December. We enjoyed using it but when we went to the dentist for our checkups this summer we were shocked. My 23 year old daughter had her first two cavities in her life. I had two cavities. And my husband had five cavities, soon followed by an abscess and an emergency root canal. I was extremely disappointed and called the company. They agreed to refund my money ($99.99) if I returned the unit. I did and I'm still waiting for the refund. In the meantime I bought a new Braun, which was the toothbrush we'd used for the two years before the Sonicare, with much better results. What a costly disappointment the Sonicare turned out to be!!
