The biggest complaint I hear from people about electric tootbrushes is that the replacement heads are too expensive. Come now, that was the type of thinking that would have killed the Industrial Revolution!For anyone who really cares about dental hygeine or even just the way they look to other people, you can't not use an electric toothbrush anymore. I laughed at the idea at first, but once I began using one I will never be able to use a regular toothbrush again without feeling like my mouth isn't clean. When you go to the dentist--what type of toothbrush does he/she use on you? Electric--for a reason, because it cleans better.
The marginally higher cost of replacing the heads rather than buying an entirely new disposable toothbrush is insignificant when you actually feel as clean as you can when you use an electric brush. Personal dental care has evolved to the next step, and you don't want to be caught be the last person using a slide ruler because you were too frugal to purchase the more expensive but more effective calculator.
Your teeth (and anyone who comes in contact with them) will thank you.

After a lot of thinking and debating whether to go for an expensive Sonicare, I decided to go for it. After all its your teeth and you show them everytime you smile. They are worth it. Bottomline, I love this brush. I think it is better than a spin brush just for the fact it seems to move the way one generally brushes. It does feel good after brushing. The charge seems to hold quite good.
The bristles are quite firm and seem to perform quite well. I have been using this for over one month and all the bristles seems to be in fine shape. Although they say you change the head every 3 months, for now it seems to me that they would go beyond 3 months easily.
Finally, Sonicare sent me a coupon for a free head if I buy 2 heads. That makes it even better.

As one who ha suffered the pain (and swelling) of gum surgery, I'm happy to say that this toothbrush has made all the difference for me.Prior to using Sonicare I went to my dental check-ups dreading the sound of all those "5's" the tech would find - no more.

I love my Sonicare Advance but as my dentist said, I still need to floss. Nothing can substitute proper manual flossing! Using this toothbrush, I can really tell a difference when I rub my tongue against my teeth and gums, wow! Cleans much better then a regular toothbrush. Replacements are expensive but its worth it. The one thing I would change is the cord. I hate cords and have little space and would love the base to have a retractable cord. I compare using this toothbrush with just having my teeth cleaned by a dentist. I originally bought a Sonicare for my husband and it worked so well we bought the extra heads and we share the same base. Now he is traveling so much that I want my own base. It is several years old and still brushing very well, neither of us having any complaints. In fact, we were both so happy with the results, that I bought my father one as well. The next time my dad went for his usual cleaning, the dentist was amazed at how clean and nice looking his teeth were. As a daily coffee drinker, my dad would have bad coffee stains on the inside of the teeth, that the dentist would have to work at to remove. Since he got the Sonicare, cleanings are much more pleasant and less work. For smokers, the Sonicare will remove stains if you use it on a regular basis. It's truly amazing what this brush can do and it's worth the money. I don't think it matters which particular model of the Sonicare you get. Sure it sucks that the battery can't be replaced but if it lasts you for approx. 4 years, isn't that worth it? I proudly recommend a Sonicare to everyone.
