Customer Review: 4100 has been discontinued, lower VBM than newer models

Sonicare model 4100 has been discontinued. I have used this model for YEARS and love it. However, the newer models have a higher vibration per minute. A jump from about 20,000 vbm on this model up to 31,000 vbm on the Essence, Healthy White and Flexcare models. In terms of features, the three newer models are ranked low to high respectively with Essence at the low end.
I have ordered an Essence based on the vbm increase, but have not received it yet. My Mom has used both the 4100 and now has a new Essence. She does not like the skinny neck on the Essence.

I purchased my first Sonicare about 9-10 years ago at the urging of my dentist. In the very beginning I did not like it, but quickly got so used to it, that I just do not feel my teeth are really clean when I use a conventional toothbrush.
After all these years of service, it finally stopped holding a charge (as is the case with all rechargable batteries) so I bought a new one and it is performing just as my other one did, and has met all my expectations.
There is an almost bewildering number of models to choose from now, so I purhcased the one I had experience with, and am very happy with it. I would recommend the Sonicare toothbrush to anyone.

Great product! My husband and I had been looking for this type of toothbrush for quite a while....several much more expensive versions were all we'd seen. Saw this as the "Deal of the Day" and decided to take a chance. Have had for about 3 weeks now and already visible results. 2 minute timing feature is great also. It does hold a charge for 14 days as claimed without being on the charging base. Would very much recommend this or similar Sonicare product.

A Sonicare is totally worth the price you pay, although I don't feel you don't need anything more than the basic model. I tried the one with the Quadrapacer but found no need for it. When my last Sonicare died and I went for a few weeks using a standard toothbrush (because I was price shopping), my gums got sore! BTW, Amazon had the best deal! I had problem teeth and gums until I purchased my first Sonicare at the suggestion of my dentist. I now get compliments on my teeth when I go in for my 6 month check up. I am on my third Sonicare. They only last about 3-5 years. If you leave them plugged in all of the time they last longer.Customer Review: Great Investment for a Toothbrush

The Advance 4100 has been the best toothbrush I have ever used, and still using. For some time now I've spent a fortune buying cheap imitations thinking it's the same as a pricier toothbrush the likes of Sonicare. The difference is night and day, the Sonicare is worth every penny. Replacement for the brush heads are easy to find in almost any major general store. The timer on here is very useful in maintaining a good brushing routine. The only bad thing I would say about the product is that there is no way you can find out if the battery is almost out, unless you keep track of how much it's used before it needs to be charged.
