Customer Review: A Brilliant Pairing of St. John's Wort with A Chinese Depression Formula

As a practitioner of Oriental Medicine, I frequently give the Chinese formula Xiao Yao Wan to depressed patients, particularly those with what we call Liver Qi Stagnation (a depression with "stuckness", often accompanied by PMS and menstrual pain when in women, accompanied with internal and emotional obstacles to the free flow of qi and blood.) Xiao Yao Wan has a wide variety functions and the herbs help you flow around obstacles rather than being blocked.
I think of St. John's wort as a distillation of sunshine- anyone who has seen the riotous yellow and red hypericum blossoms in summer can see how the red resins would bring in that quality of warm lightness. Not only an antidepressant, this herb helps with nerve pain, healing wounds and lifting the spirit.
Herbalist Michael Tierra brilliantly paired these herbs together to make an antidepressant formula for those who are stuck and depressed.
