I got this item on the "subscribe and save" It's much cheaper and convenient than running out and buying it whenever we're low. And I didn't realize just how often you need to empty the diaper pail.
Is it silly to use a product that needs it's own refill? That is a matter of opinion, but so far, I really like this product, it does keep the stinky diaper smell in. Once your Baby starts eating solids, you'll need to empty it out more often on a regular basis. It's not magical (despite having the word "genie" in it's title), but it does keep the smell at bay.

The diaper genie is a necessary evil, and so are its refills. As far as a waste receptacle for smelly diapers, it's hard to imagine a better designed product. It does it's dirty job, and it does it well. Full bags of diapers are fondly referred to as 'poo burritos' in my house, and with a recent new born, we're minting a new one about every 4-5 days. Thankfully we have lots and lots of refills now so that our genie can still keep working it's magic far into the future. I'm fondly looking forward to the day when I no longer need a diaper genie or refills for it!

I have using the Playtex Diaper Genie II for almost 10months now, and I cannot imagine my life without it. I have once tried using a trash bag (instead of the refill) when I ran out of my stock at home, and boy that day was unimaginably smelly!! For all those parents whose kids are still on diapers - this is the best choice.
Last month, I was running out of the diaper genie refill, and looked up Amazon to find this product at a price less than @ BBRUs (even with a coupon) with the convenience of 'subscribe & save'. Excellent service - Amazon!

I use this product in a Diaper Genie II Elite pail and the odor control is amazing. The pail is in an area where my family spends a lot of time and we have never even noticed the smell once in the year that I have been using the product. I think that changing the bag is extremely easy and these bags also do not allow any smell or residue to seep through onto the pail itself. I do clean out the pail when putting in a new refill but it has never dirty or smelly through a year's worth of normal use. The Diaper Genie II Elite is the best baby item we have. The only bad part is remembering to get refills. Luckily, Amazon has autoship and when combining that discount with the Amazon Mom discount, the price can't be beat. Tip: Arm and Hammer Fridge Packs (the round ones) fit perfectly over the hole of your Diaper Genie when stuck to the lid. This combined with a charcoal odor absorber in bottom of the Genie under the sack have made our nursery smell free!
