The Original Backnobber II is incredibly effective at helping a person to get out those kinks in sore back muscles.
Personally, I think it beats any of the electric/vibrating back massagers I have tried. In fact, those vibrating massagers never really helped me at all.
Massage chairs are a nice idea, but they can be frustrating to use if the target muscle is out of range of the mechanical roller.
The closest thing to a backnobber is pressing the back against a door jam...the idea being to focus on a particular muscle area. However, the Backnobber is still much better because it allows a person more accuracy at finding the sore muscles. Instead of telling a masseuse, "higher, lower...little to the right..." etc, a person can just use the Backnobber.
I find the construction of the Backnobber to be very good, something that should last years. The key thing here is that it is rigid and doesn't flex when applying pressure. It's also comfortable to hold.
I give it 5-Stars because it works so well, and yet is an absolute minimalist design.
One thing to consider is that the size of the Backnobber II seems ideal for an adult of "average" size. However, for a person with an exceptionally large midsection, a larger "S" shape may be helpful.
