I have tried many gel heel cups and arch supports, and I don't like the gel inserts because they never stay in place. The heel cups end up turning sideways and it makes walking very uncomfortable. These heel inserts come with a sticky dot that you can place to keep them from moving. The cushion is nice and thick and my heels feel much better in them. But since they are thick, when they are in flat women's shoes (especially ballet flats), my heels come out of the shoe when I'm walking. So it doesn't work as well for these type of shoes, which is too bad because they usually have no heel support/cushion. But for bigger shoes, they work really well.
