I've bought two of these tank drop-in "cleaners", and yes it does prevent microbes, bacteria and mildew from ruining your humidifier. It also makes your filter last a lot longer. In the instructions it says it prevents the buildup of mineral deposits by attracting them to the cartridge rather than clogging your humidifier. This particular cartridge can be used in tanks up to 2 gallons in size and used for up to 30 days. If you don't use your humidifier that much, you can take it out and let it dry, but only for a total of 30 days. Let's say you only use the cartridge for a week, well then just take it out and let it dry and you got 23 more days of use out of it, however you want to use it. One week on, one week off whatever works for you, but like I said above only for a total of 30 days.Customer Review: Absolutely love this little item!! Time saver, too!

ProTec Cleaning Cartridge does exactly what it says. Actually, it works even longer. My humidifier stopped working and I let it sit for over a week on two different occasions till I could get around to emptying. When I did clean it, the water was not slimy at all nor was the filter. Before I purchased this, my water had to be changed daily or slime and scaling would build up horribly. It also turned the filter a horrible yellow. It still turns it a little yellow, but nothing like before. We have well water. It's also a time saver, cause I don't have to empty it and clean it every day. I'm not a slave to the humidifier anymore! Definately worth it!Customer Review: Product seems to do its job well

We use this product daily during the cold season in North Dakota, because the constant presence of forced-air heat reduces moisture in the air. Hence, we run a large humidifier pretty steady from first freeze in the fall through last thaw in the spring. Without these cleaning cartridges in the humidifier water, we would have major buildup of contaminants on the interior surfaces of the humidifier. The cartridges are easy to handle, both when adding to, and removing from, the humidifier water tank. The product is worth the price.Customer Review: Excellent product

My humidifier is a big 3 gallon piece runs 24/7 and is refilled twice a day. so far its more than three weeks, i havent even had to rinse the water tank and the inside surface is literally squeeky clean still from one cartridge. outdid all expectation. if your time is valuable this is the best value youll ever get for your money. manufaturer recommends rinsing daily and washing once a week. with this thing your can do nothing but refil the water continuously for weeks!!!Customer Review: Wish I had known about these sooner

I went through a LOT of expensive filters before I found these little gems. I was doubtful at first if they would help, but after I put them in all three of my humidifiers, every single one now goes much longer without me having to replace the filter. Definitely worth the cost.
Works as advertised from my experience.
