Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
If your like us, this is for families and individuals who consistently exercise, play sports, this product specially designed for you. This is a product that gets clothing clean on its own or acts as a boaster for other detergents.
After doing some reading about the product, it states Pro Wash Activewear Detergent is formulated in a unique way to attack odor- causing molecules and remove them from your clothing. This detergent has been tested and proven to eliminate these odors better than other detergents because it doesn't just cover up the odors, it breaks them down chemically and removes them from your clothing. It also claims to restore the fabric wicking to your clothing, reduces fading, and helps to restore the garment's original shape. This detergent is safe for most all garments and it can be used to pre-treat stubborn stains by adding a small amount directly to the stain and rubbing gently before placing the stained garment into the wash. Pro Wash Activewear Detergent can be used for general laundry needs or it can be added with regular detergent and used as a booster. After reading this I said to me wife, HUH really....well we'll see about that.
Opened the weird looking pouch, the first thing we noticed is the scent of the detergent. It smelled nice, like an active fresh scent, not too settle but not too strong. Pro Wash Activewear Detergent is liquid and it's blue in color. The product is sold in a plastic pouch with a wide base that enables the pouch to stand upright. The product is dispensed through a small opening at the top, by unscrewing the small white cap and then pouring some detergent directly into your washing machine. It produces a lower than average level of suds.
Pro Wash Activewear Detergent is highly concentrated. Top loading automatic washers need only 2 oz. per load; Front loading automatic washers need 1.5 ounces per load; hand washing requires 1.5 ounces per five gallons of water; and high efficiency washers need only 1 ounce per load. Thus, a 24 ounce package is good for as many as 24 loads in a high efficiency washer or as few as 12 loads in a top loading automatic washer.
Pro Wash Activewear Detergent is manufactured in a unique manner and the people at Dry, Inc. (the parent company) claim that it helps eliminate odors better than others due to its ability to break down the odor causing molecules, transforming them into a different compound and therefore eliminating bad odors. We play a lot of sports, and exercise everyday plus we do have two little girls and they have been known to contribute their share of aromas, sweat and stains to their clothing and the surrounding air. We decided that their clothing would be the true test of this detergent. I said to my wife if it could eliminate the bad odors from certain clothing, then it may be a product worth keeping.
Using Pro Wash Activewear Detergent a few times, and OMG I did notice that the bad odors were gone, but there was one other thing that I found even more unusual: The lack of any detergent scent on the freshly laundered and dried clothing O M G!!!!!!!!. Opening the bottle and taking a good whiff, Pro Wash Activewear Detergent certainly has a smell, and it is very similar to air freshener. It isn't very strong, but it takes little effort to notice it. One would assume that this scent would be transferred to your clothing, but it isn't. This is where the manufacturer's claims come into better perspective. Because the detergent rinses clean so well, the consumer is presented with a garment that can more readily be investigated to see if it truly has eliminated bad odors. With other detergents, the scent of the detergent itself masks the odors. But with Pro Wash Activewear Detergent, there is practically no scent, and this helps to prove the manufacturer's claim. The odors are gone, leaving a piece of clothing that smells like, well, clothing. There is virtually no other scent that can be detected on the clothing.
Pro Wash Activewear Detergent is takes very little to wash a load of clothing. You should be warned not to accidentally dispense too much detergent. The detergent is dispensed from a very small opening, there is no need to squeeze or force it out in any way. It flows very quickly through that small, round opening because it is as thin as water and one has to be careful not to let too much come out of the pouch. Pro Wash Activewear Detergent has a window- like opening on the back of the pouch that marks the number of units (ounces). So, after pouring out a small amount, just stand the pouch on a flat surface and see how much you have used. This could become and pain in the but because it could result in having to pour a little more, then a little more, etc., to get the desired level and, if you pour too much, you obviously cannot remove it. We used our own measuring cup for better accuracy because there is no measuring cup included. Pro Active should really re-think this one. They should include a measuring cup.
Pro Wash Activewear Detergent is packaged the way it is because the manufacturer wants to be as Earth friendly as possible. The plastic used for the pouch is thin and, according to the manufacturer's web page, it uses one- ninth as much warehouse space to store, takes up far less shelf space, uses up much less landfill space, and requires far less fuel to produce.
Overall, WE LOVE IT!! Pro Wash Activewear Detergent seems like a good detergent for general use. We don't use it as a booster for regular detergent because it seems to work well on its own. The only thing one would gain from using it as a booster is that there would be a little more scent left on the clothing. But if you prefer little or no perfume- scent on your clothing like we do and only care about getting clothes clean, then Pro Wash Activewear Detergent is the product for you. It does cost quite a bit ($8 to $10 per 24 oz. bottle), but it does remove odors as promised and gets clothes smelling like new. Highly Recommended....
