I had the previous version of this clock for about 20 years and I accidentally dropped it! Otherwise it would still be working! This new version has more buttons and switches and harder to program. There are 3 alarm options, cuckoo, beep (which is barely heard), and rooster. My old clock actually announced the time when the alarm went off. That's why it's called a Talking Alarm Clock! And to turn it off, all I had to do was touch the large black button on top of the pyramid! This new version was driving me crazy because the only way to turn it off is to turn the clock over and on the bottom, move the alarm switch to off. This is a little hard to do when you are first waking up! The switches are so tiny, that it is hard to turn off. I kept hitting the black button on top to turn it off, only to find out that this made the clock go into snooze mode, and it would go off every 10 minutes until you turned it off at the bottom. There is also a third switch below the alarm on and off switch, which I have no idea what it's for.
I called Magnifying Aids to find out what the third switch was for, and no one seemed to know the answer. They should really hire people who answer their phones to know something about their products. I returned the clock, and will look for something that is easier to operate. In the meantime, I was told that I would be credited with the $15.00 I paid, but not for the shipping costs ($3.90). I paid UPS $10.37 to return the clock to them, plus the original shipping of $3.90. So I am out $14.27, and have no clock to show for it!!

I ordered this item for my 97 year old dad. It would probably be ok for most people, but not for my father. He not only has visual problems, but hearing problems, also. It was easy for him to hit the black strip on top to hear the time, but he can't understand what is being said. The voice is somewhat garbled to me, and my father can't understand it at all. He'll press it 4 or 5 times and then ask me what was said. I bought a Reizen 3-in-1 talking cube for him for Christmas and it works perfectly. The voice is loud and clear. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and get another one of those instead of carrying the one he has now back and forth between the bedroom and the den.Customer Review: Nothing to get excited about

We ordered the clock to replace one which had to be at least 20 years old that announced the time hourly on it's own. The old one announced the time and even though we could have called or waited for a reponse, we got one that is just an alarm clock. We contacted the company via email, and said to check their site for one - but no offer of returning this one and paying any difference.Customer Review: It's perfect if you do not want an hourly report!

Just what the title says: It's perfect if you do not want an hourly report! You have to push the top to get it to talk. I sent it back and got a different one with an hourly report. I love that one!
