This is a whitening kit, promising you whitER teeth, not bright shiny whites. Sure, if you already have pretty white teeth and want to get it to be just a little bit more brighter [maybe you have a brand new WHITE shirt that makes your teeth look a little yellow?] you may get that abnormally white smile the first time you use it, but otherwise this is supposed to get your teeth whitER and brightER.
For me, it worked pretty well. And actually I only used one little tube for each 20 minutes [the instructions say 20 in, 10 out, repeat until you get to 2 hours], so I really could have two different whitening sessions. If you have really sensitive teeth it might hurt you, but for me it didn't. I've actually had some pretty bad pains from things like Crest whitestrips, so I was expecting some pain, but that didn't happen this time. Also, the taste isn't GREAT but it is definitely better than some of those super expensive whiteners out there on the internet, like OrthoWhite. And the burning on your gums... well, it's bleach, so if you get a lot on your gums and don't wipe it off right away IT'S GONNA BURN [I've experienced the burning with OrthoWhite, which hurts a lot more than Rembrandt], so you've got to watch out for that.
Overall, if you read the instructions and are careful with applying the whitener then you'll probably love this product, too, especially for the price!
As a side note, the trays are kinda soft and not heavy plastic like other whiteners, which I like because it's easier to mold to your mouth, BUT I have a biting problem and had tore through my bottom tray by the end of the first 2-hour session I did. OOPS.
