Customer Reviews of Remington MB-300 Titanium Beard and Mustache Trimmer

Customer Review: So nice, I bought it twice!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the predecessor to this beard trimmer more than three years ago, and loved it. After carelessly dropping my old one I broke it, and am back for another.

Pros:

* Scrolling wheel height adjustment.
----> A very nice feature, the height holds well, unlike some trimmers. You can use pressure against your face and it won't retreat to a shorter height setting that creates a thin spot.
----> After only two or three times, you will know how high you want it. For example, I always trim my beard on a "6" and my mustache on a "4"

* Removable head to trim beard edges.

* Strong motor/ blades provide pain-free trim.

* Holds its charge for a long time. (I charge it full before I travel, and don't even bother packing the charger, because I trust it to function the whole week.)

* Shaver head lifts easily to remove stray hair that gets into the motor area.

* Cordless -> To avoid having to clean the bathroom after a big trim, (If I didn't trim for a week or so) I will take it in the back yard and set it 1 setting higher ("7" instead of "6"). Then I give it a quick hit to get rid of the long hair, and then return to the bathroom to finish the detail work.

Cons:

* It will need a place to lay flat, or a pouch to hang in. It doesn't stand on end, and the charger unit plugs into the base (at the bottom end of the demo picture).

* I did mention I broke my old one. I had removed the height guard, and was emptying the hair from under the shaver head. The pivot is plastic, and while I had it open, I dropped the shaver. It landed head down (of course) and the pivot broke. Totally user error, but it is a weak spot.

Final Thoughts:

I love this thing. It provides a quick clean trim. I would say that it usually takes no less than 3 minutes for a quick trim, maybe as long as 8-10 minutes if I am going to detail the edges after a month of quick trims.

I highlighted some cons for a fair review, but I have nothing against this razor. It trimmed well for three years, and was still holding a charge for weeks when I broke it.

(I liked it even more after trying the Remington PG350 Precision Deluxe Rechargeable Personal Grooming Kit. I bought that quick because I needed a trim, and it confirmed how well this razor worked, and shaped my thoughts for this review. To compare to a bad item, check my review of that item.)

Customer Review: I have a new style thanks to the MB-300.
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading through many many reviews, I came to two conclusions.

1. That I needed an industrial strength, high powered beard trimmer.
2. And that the Vacuum gimick used on some of the other models are not worth it, and sometimes can seem to replace good construction of the said product.

Now, I don't know about #2, but #1 is false, because I can attest to that. I mean do we really need to believe in order to get a consistant trim we need a $100+ professional model? No we don't, and I am glad I took my own advice.

This model is light weight, very attractive, and works like a beauty. I have never used a beard trimmer before, and for that matter I have never had or maintained a beard. Well I wanted to give it a try, because if you are a man, you HAVE to try a beard once. It is too much fun not too. Well, I let my beard grow out for 4-5 weeks. It was gangly, gnarly, scratchy, and chaotic. It was like steel wool on my face, literally. My beard actually CUT my face. So as you can see I have the nastiest of beards, you can also see on my profile page (my beard is now much more controlled than the picture..that picture was taken when I was growing it out in order to mold it ).

It comes with 4 things:
1. Trimmer
2. Charge
3. Beard comb (as useful as the trimmer)
4. Brush for cleaning.

This trimmer is as simple as you can get. There is no need to run water to clean it, because it will harm it. All you have to do to clean is brush it, that's it. There are hardly any instructions, because you don't need any. You set one of the nine settings, with one being the shortest trim, and you mold to your liking. It couldn't get any easier and the product couldn't work any better. I am now the proud owner of a very nice looking trim beard. Also, while trimming none of my insanely outrageous hair got caught, stuck, or tangled in the razors. Oh yea, did I forget to mention it is rechargeable and can be portable without wires? Yea...it's that good.

So as you can see I am completely sold, and after really fretting myself about if I bought the RIGHT razor to trim and really have a nice looking beard like I see on so many other men, I finally got it. I am now a lifetime customer. Thank you Remington.

Customer Review: The Remington Titanium MB-300. Two words: BUY IT!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used the MB-300 for about 3 months now.
I previously purchased and tried using a vacuum-type shaver (the Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Trimmer), but it didn't vacuum all the hairs (so what was the point?), and the adjustable hair guard didn't lock into place very well (slipped from setting 5 to 1), plus it didn't have a built-in pop-up detail trimmer (it had a separate one to install/remove whenever you need to use it - who has time for that?), so I took the plunge and bought the MB-300.
I'm glad I did!
This model is the best!
You really do get what you pay for. Sure, this one is a little pricey, but it's worth every penny. I save a fortune by skipping the barber now and love all the fantastic design features this has!

Fantastic Design Feature #1:
The "lockable" length settings actually lock!

Fantastic Design Feature #2:
The pop up trimmer! This small detail trimmer is great for touch-ups, especially the moustache and edges. It pops out solidly. It stays in place. It works great!

Fantastic Design Feature #3:
The "on" switch is a slidable switch and not a button - so if you pack it into a suitcase, nothing pushing up against it will accidentally turn it on.
You also won't accidentally turn it off while shaving, since it's a switch and not a button.

Fantastic Design Feature #4:
The charge actually lasts. So many units don't hold a charge. They put a decent battery in this thing.

Fantastic Design Feature #5:
Super small wall charger. Great for traveling light!

Bottom line:
Does everything it's supposed to do and it does it very well. You won't go wrong buying this model.

Customer Review: Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first mustache and beard trimmer I have ever used, and I must say that I am mightily impressed! The beard trimmer has an easy to use scrolling wheel that allows for 9 different trim levels, and I am able to smoothly shift from one level to the next without any hassle. I have not had a single hair be pulled while trimming, it works as advertised, cutting cleanly and uniformly, which is just what I was looking for.

The mustache trimmer is perfect and allows a very precise trimming all around the edges, around the lips and on the sides. Once I am done it looks just as good as if a professional barber has done it, and I cannot take credit for it, I owe it all to this practical device.

The detail trimmer is great for that finishing touch, catching any loose or wild hairs that the primary trimmer may miss.

A couple of neat features with this package is that it includes one brush for cleaning out hairs that get stuck in the trimmer, as well as a styling comb. Both work rather well.

The grip of the unit is designed ergonomically so it fits naturally in one's hand, and it's light enough to operate without feeling cumbersome yet strong enough material to last for a long time.

The charge lasts for several days, but the cool thing about this unit is that it can be operated while plugged in or on batteries while most other trimmers only allow one or the other.

I highly recommend this to anyone looking for just the right beard and mustache trimmer.

Customer Review: Like the old Norelcos, only better
Summary: 5 Stars

Many years ago I owned a Norelco trimmer. It had a very precise indexed height adjusting ring above the on switch. It was an excellent little trimmer, except for its short lasting battery, which died after only a year of use. Throughout the years, manufacturers were tripping over each other trying to come out with fancy trimmers with more goophy gadgets, yet none, in my view, ever duplicated my original Norelco. Until now, that is. This Remington trimmer not only matches the same exact precise indexed height adjustment of the Norelco, but also adds titanium coded blades, sleek curved handle for improved hand fit, and most importantly, an unbelievably long lasting battery. Although it's Ni-Cad, this little guy (after properly forming it - google "battery forming") lasts for a long, long time. Some Li-Ion batteries can't hold a candle to this energizer bunny. The actuator button is smooth and overall this trimmer has a very solid feel and action. Mine is the black and silver model - the colors add a quiet deadly feel to it. I'm very happy with it and consider it the best twenty five bucks spent at Target so far.
