This clipper is AWESOME! My wife's been cutting my hair for 10 or more years now (with a Wahl clipper), so this allowed me to do it by myself. I use it at the shortest setting which is shorter than my regular clippers were ever able to go. It is so easy to use. Just remember the 2 most important things: 1) Hold it like a brush when you cut your hair, and 2) Go slowly! You will still be able to cut your hair in less than 10 minutes going slowly. It cuts very easily and evenly because it cuts in both directions. It also cleans-up easily. I just use a brush to remove the "clippings" after I remove the cutting guard. I now end up cutting my hair every week. I can't express how much I really like this clipper! Finally, something that allows me to cut my own hair and does it very easily. Love it! The slogan really is true; "You can't mess this up!" I bought one for myself about a year ago and just bought another as a gift. You literally hold it like a hairbrush and draw it across your hair as though you were brushing it. Even the back comes out looking great without a hand mirror. The only minor flaw I've noted is that, even on a full charge, the unit will hesitate a bit on start-up, as though the batteries were about to die; however it does continue to work and after a minute or so it goes full steam. Also, it does need to be charged before use -it will not run just by plugging it in.
I use my clipper weekly to keep a fresh cut look and it paid for itself (versus going to a barber) in less than 2 months. Also, the Amazon price is the best I've found - even less than when I bought my first one elsewhere.

I can't fault this clipper on very much. It works well and certainly works better than using a traditional set of clippers and spacers ... especially when using it by yourself. It does take a great long while to charge (average 12 hours) but once it's charged, it lasts quite awhile and according to the manual you can just leave it plugged in if you want. Since there's no outside suction involved, you have to move the unit around on your head pretty vigorously to get an even cut and hair clippings go everywhere, but I just stand in the shower enclosure and then shower afterwards and it really is no problem. The unit seems to be well made and hasn't missed a beat for the last month that I've been using it. So far it's the best solution I've found for cutting your own hair. Just remember that it's for folks that keep their hair 5/8" or shorter.Customer Review: Great for very short hair

I bought this trimmer after using a conventional hair cutter to do my own hair for the past year. I have to say that the Remington Short Cut Clipper is fantastic for doing your own hair IF you want it very short. I tried several lengths starting with 3 and found that it was rather uneven until I got down to 1.5 or 2. I liked the 1.5 best so have been using that setting. It is quite easy to get an even cut with the curved comb and the ability to cut while moving the trimmer forward and backwards is great. For the price it is a great buy.
I also have used it to trim my chest and stomach hair. The curved comb can sometimes make this difficult but overall it works well.
The pop-up straight trimmer is a little too narrow for easy use so I just use my conventional trimmer for sideburns instead of the pop-up.

I just received this product 2 days ago and then I charged it at least 24 hours before using it. The manual instruction is very short to the point. I tried it this morning and it worked perfectly. I have a medium dense hair and I have my hairstylist cut my side and back with #2 clipper and hand cut on the top.
Anyway, I tried this with the highest setting #4, it just worked the way I wanted. Normally, I have to get a haircut once every 3 weeks and spent at least $20 for a 5 to 10 minutes of haircut. Now, I am projecting to save at least $350 annually :-)
It is very fun to use, and I don't want to have a bald cut look; otherwise, I could use my electric razor. It worked better than I thought! My hair doesn't look like I just out of salon, so I can use it more frequently (let's say at least once a week).
