The Remington Shortcut Clipper truly was designed from the ground up to be as solo friendly as possible. As with anything, there is a learning curve, like how to double check the backside of your head with a mirror, what settings to use, how many repeated combing motions to use for a uniform cut, etc, but at most it'll take you 2-3 attempts before you have a good cut you can reliably replicate. I have tried a couple of other self-grooming products, but the simplicity of this one's design, its convenience factor, and its cost all make it a ideal choice for me. This is in fact, my second one I've purchased, the first one lasted a little over a year before the battery burnt out on me and I had to come to Amazon to find a replacement. But considering replacing it cost me as much as one visit to my barber and that I'd have to go 3x a month to keep the degree of shortness I like, I had zero hesitation in buying a replacement. The settings allow you to go from (approximately) 1/16" - 1/2", using the 1/8th setting once a week for ~5 minutes total gives me a very uniform cut on all sides of my head using repeated grooming motions that are no more complex than combing my hair. Its design is such that it follows the curvature of one's head in a consistent manner, regardless what hand you use, and I've even seen a couple of coworkers using this clipper in a more creative fashion by layering their settings for a look that one would swear was done by a stylist. Even if my battery burnt out on me next week, I'd not hesitate to buy this clipper again.
