Based on other reviews I decided to start with a small batch of the mint flavor. Nothing but greatness here:
- Caffeine kicks in quick, for me it's 5-10 minutes.
- Dose is just right. 100mg isn't going to rock your socks unless you're very sensitive to caffeine. For reference, a medium Starbucks drip coffee is 300mg, all pills I can find are 200mg, and instant coffee is somewhere in the 100mg range. For me, 100mg is perfect to pick me up without any adverse effects, and allows me to easily stay within my 500mg/day self-imposed limit.
- Tremendously convenient package. Each pack is 5 pieces of gum, packs are foil-lined and just fold over to reseal. Keep one pack in the car, one in the first aid kit, etc.. When you need caffeine, you *need* it, and this an easy way to keep it handy.
- Taste is great. I'm not a gum connoisseur but, even so, I can't figure why some reviewers complain about the taste. I'll chew the gum for 15 minutes or more and it stays fine, no weird aftertaste. (I hear the other flavors are worse.)
All in all, I can foresee getting the case size in short order, Stay Alert is fantastic.
