The Salter 914 scale readout is repeatable, and as far as I can determine by comparison with other, more precise scales, my copy is accurate to +/- 10 grams (which is its readability, or last digit). That is actually surprising for a consumer product. Generally you should always center the weight on the scale, but placing a 6.53 kg weight anywhere on the tray (that didn't actually tip it over) does not shift the readout more than 10 g. The weight readout is stable even with some baby limbs waving around (have not tried to weigh a vigorous fussing baby). All of these factors point to a high quality design. Cheaper scales may have the same specs on paper (max weight & readability) but not deliver the stability or accuracy.Customer Review: Saltier 914 baby scale

I bought this scale to weigh my cats as I have one that is 14 lbs and should be about 8 lbs (adopted her at that weight). I also have 5 others that I want to monitor their weight to keep them healthy. The cats are pretty good at staying on the scale and it registers quickly to get a weight; some of them love to lay in it. It appears to be very accurate as the weight did not fluctuate when I weighed them several times. I have only had it about 2 months and only use it about once a month so cannot attest to its long-term reliability but it seems like a good product to me. Since a half a pound is a big deal to a cat, I wanted something to give me ounces and be accurate and it seems to do both.Customer Review: Very pleased with this product - a must have for concerned parents

My wife was breast feeding and we were not able to tell how much our son was drinking (first child). At his first doctor visit we found out that he had lost few ounces - not a matter of concern according to the doctor, but we were concerned. After much research and reviews, we end up ordering this scale since it had good reviews and was cost effective. We were very pleased to have it, we used it to weigh our baby after each feed for few days to see how much he is drinking and changing his feeding time accordingly. It was a relief to see baby gaining few ounces after each feed. Now we weigh our baby (2 months old) every week or two. I would highly recommend this productCustomer Review: Accurate!

My wife and I were looking for a good baby scale since our 1st kid had a problem with weight gain. She was hesitant on getting this scale and wanted a $1,000 doctor's office type baby scale.
I'm glad I saw the great reviews that this scale is getting. After buying this scale, we compared its measurements to what the pediatrician's office scale measured. The difference was usually around 1-2 ounces. So we're very happy with it.
On a side note, the baby tray easily removes by using a coin to turn the plastic screw. When the tray is removed, there's an odd Mickey Mouse look-alike face for toddlers to see when they step on the scale themselves.

We bought this scale as part of our preparation for our home birth to weigh our new baby. We enjoyed weighing other household items (and the cat) until the baby arrived. This scale is wonderful. It weighed our baby girl perfectly (9 pounds, 11 ounces), and is accurate enough to weigh, feed, and weigh the baby for any breastfeeding mom curious as to how much milk the baby is taking in.
We also use this scale to weigh packages before we mail them. I recommend this scale to everyone I know who is looking for a kid scale. My husband and I lament the fact it "only" goes to 44 pounds. We want to know how many pounds and ounces WE weigh!
