Customer Reviews of Schick Quattro Refill Cartridges , 8 CartridgesCustomer Review: Simply not as good as Mach 3 Summary: 3 Stars
Have done extensive side-by-side comparisons and the Mach 3 shaves better and never clogs. Have not really tested the Fusion much, but I know a few people who have, and they have switched back to the older Mach 3. Schick's blade angle is not as effective as Gillette's, and the four blades are so close together that they clog up and that causes the blades to ride over the target without shaving. Quattro has to be rinsed after every pass.
On the plus side, they stay sharp for ages and ages and it's virtually impossible to cut yourself with a Quattro.
Customer Review: Clogs Summary: 1 Stars
I was using a Sensor Excel, and thought I'd try something new when it came time to buy another new pack of blades. I decided on the Quattro, to give one of these multi-blade razors a try.
The shave itself was pretty good. It seemed nice and close, and didn't nick and cut. The trouble came when I tried to rinse the blade. The 4 blades were clogged to the point of being unusable! Swishing in the sink didn't clear 'em, and neither did rinsing under running water. Keep in mind this was after the first shave! I had luck de-clogging the blade with tweezers, but who wants to go through that after every shave?
In my opinion, the clogging issue makes the Quattro worthless. With my Excel (and every other such razor I've used) I could get a few shaves out of a blade before having to replace it. With the Quattro, you'll only get one shave and have to replace the expensive blade for every shave. That adds up way too quickly to be reasonable.
I'd say steer clear of the Quattro, unless you've got nothing better to spend your hard-earned money on.
Customer Review: Total bloody rubbish Summary: 1 Stars
Two problems with the Schick Quattro blade-
1) It gives you so many nicks you'll have to put a gigantic bandage over the entire area you just shaved or around 10 little pieces of toilet paper - even if you just broke out a new cartridge
2) The blades clog so completely with hair after the first stroke that you have to use your finger to wipe down with the blade direction (against it would cut your finger, obviously) to unclog it after every stroke or two, depending on how thick you are
If you dont want this problem, get a double-edged safety razor by Merkur. They are easy as pie to unclog and hardly make you bleed at all compared to multi-blade razors.
Customer Review: waste of money Summary: 1 Stars
After using a mach 3 for years I thought this would be a good upgrade, not so much. It easily cuts through facial hair but it becomes hopelessly clogged quickly often after only half a shave. The only way I could clear the clog was to turn on the water full force and put my thumb over the faucet creating a jet of water and spraying it out for 20 or 30 seconds. This is way too much work, especially when I was having to do this 2 or 3 times per shave, more if it had been a few day between shaves.
I'm going back to mach 3 after I run out of these...
