This is the third pair I have had. I left the other two pairs at the gym over the last few years and someone walked off with them each time. I guess I can't blame them though. These are really nice.
Just before buying this pair I bought a cheap set of straps for $8 to see if they would work Altus Athletic Padded Lifting Straps. After one use for deadlift: I found them very difficult to tighten yourself and I had cuts on both wrists where the straps had dug into the skin. The next day I ordered the dowel straps...again. They are easy to tighten with one hand and the padding is superior to any others I have tried. The strap length is short, but that is ok, because the dowel keeps the strap tight between your hand and the bar. I would definitely recommend these.
