It does what it says: lights up and magnifies a spot.
Though some might use it to examine a wort on their hand, I'll use it to read that very fine print that comes up every once in awhile. Try to think of times when you'd wanted to look at something close up, under a bright light. Sewing, maybe? Crafts? Checking to see if that painting you bought at a garage sale is really a Van Gogh? No need to be old; but you might have extra use for it if those peepers are fading a bit.
Seriously, with three of them (You did notice you're buying three at this price, right?), it triples the handiness. One on your desk; one where you read, sew or check out worts and moles; and one in your purse or shirt pocket for reading price tags when out shopping.
In sum, it's a clever little device, about the size of a thick credit card that you can enjoy three times more than you might think.
