Senokot tablets with a stool softener are wonderful when you're just not "regular." I have used these in the past week because my new course of chemotherapy leaves me "irregular." The tablets go down easy enough; and of course I would use these before the expiration date printed on the bottle.
Senokot works well to help you use the restroom without any real cramping or discomfort, at least in my case. They are very useful for me. In addition, these pills are both sugar-free and low in sodium.
However, there is a number of cautions about the drug. Amazon notes above: "Do not use if you are taking mineral oil, unless directed by a doctor; laxative products for longer than 1 week unless directed by a doctor. Ask a doctor before use if you have stomach pain; nausea; vomiting; noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that lasts over 2 weeks. Stop use and ask a doctor if you have rectal bleeding or fail to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative. These may indicate a serious condition. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Do not use if imprinted seal under cap is missing or damaged."
Man, that's a lot of precautions! Be careful before taking Senokot; you may want to ask your doctor about it before you choose this brand of stool softener.
Overall, for me at least, I am better off taking these pills. I recommend this for the majority of people as long as they read the directions carefully and consult a doctor first if they have any questions or concerns about Senokot.
