We've had some tempurpedic orthopedic pillows for years, but we're trying to replace them with nontoxic natural fibers. We got a wool pillow and we got one of these. Both were nice, but this is a better replacement for the orthopedic pillow. It isn't squishy in the same way, which is fine (but I do miss the squishiness). The wool batting on top is an excellent addition to the pillow. It keeps the buckwheat hulls from pushing too firmly on my ears when side sleeping, and it makes the pillow pretty quiet. I had never had a buckwheat pillow before. The hulls are surprisingly soft (silky soft, not squishy soft). Anyway, I think it's a well made pillow, and I haven't had any problems switching over to it. It's certainly for side or back sleepers, not for stomach sleepers. For me there were too many hulls, so I removed about a quarter of them. It's a little smaller than a standard pillow, but it seems like a perfectly fine size when you're sleeping on it.

If you are broad shouldered and need more loft, rotate the pillow a quarter turn so that it sits on its side with the wool facing you.
