This is a good product. Not that I'm an expert. However, you still need to pre-you're your dishes.
As I near the end of my laborious run of Couvade Syndrome, I find my tolerance for certain things diminishing, and I just need to express this: I don't care how good your dishwasher is and I don't care how good your detergent is. You still have rinse the chunks off the plate or you end up just cooking food on in the dishwasher.
Listen, I appreciate it when other people help with the dishes. But think about how the machine works a little. Get over your magical thinking. Placing dishes in the machine doesn't make them clean if there is still food stuck to them when you unload them. It is a miracle of modern life, but it is not science fiction. Just think about what you are doing and be a little observant, that's all I ask.
Just venting. I'm sorry you had to hear that. But this is a good product. I like that it's eco-friendly and all the rest of that. It's a soap box standing on its soap box. By the way, there is a breakfast sandwich from a little deli where I used to live. I can't remember the name of the sandwich or the deli. But it was a couple eggs over medium, cheese, bacon, then an almost paper thin slice of red onion and a garlic mayo all on a toasted Kaiser roll. I can't remember the name, but I want you to know I'm thinking of you, and I know you are thinking of me too.

I'm a working mom with a 6-month-old baby, which means constant cleaning of bottles, pacifiers, toys, baby spoons, and highchair tray in addition to our regular dishes. We use Seventh Generation for a lot of our baby products, and Melaleuca for our cleaning products. It's so important to clean the items that you eat from with people-friendly products. We're complex biological creatures, and the ingredients around us absolutely make a difference to our health and wellbeing. We ran out of Melaleuca dishwasher detergent and quickly subbed with Seventh Gen, and I won't be switching back! We have ridiculously hard water in our house, and a crappy old dishwasher. Back when we used Cascade we would constantly have to run items again, and the bottles would come out smelling like milk. Yuck. The Seventh Gen left our dishes sparking and clean; I foolishly didn't read the hard water instructions the first time we used it, but amazingly, it was no problem for this product. I use it without a drying agent, and it's just fine. Even when my husband overloads the dishwasher, it works great. Granted, the price is a little high (ok a lot high), but with Amazn's subscribe and save, it's much more reasonably priced.Customer Review: I'm hooked!!

I finally decided to get with the program and switch all of my cleaners over to natural products that were environmentally safe. I ran into the "GreenWise" display at my grocery store and saw the Seventh Generation products. After reading the info on the box, I promptly put the Cascade back up and picked up a box of SeventhGen. I was very skeptical, but I was determined to do something right for the environment. How surprised and pleased I was to see how well this product works!! Buy it with confidence :) I will be buying my next box(es) from Amazon!! Great price for the lot!!
NOTE: We have very hard water full of sulfur and minerals. I made sure to follow the directions on the box completely, and that includes the advice of using a water softener (aka Jet Dry or Cascade Clean Rinse) to make sure there is no left over residue on the dishes. So for those of you with exceptionally hard water..make sure to use the water softener, and adjust your water softener dispenser to a slightly higher number (releasing more softener into the rinse) to make sure it works well.

I have used this for several years now & am happy with how it cleans. I have well water with no water softener & a low amount of minerals. I use around 1 tablespoon (no less) in each detergent cup in the dishwasher. I split the case with a friend who has city water with a higher amount of minerals & she has to use more to effectively clean the dishes, but she is happy with it as well. I keep my detergent in a plasic container rather than the original box (so there is no worry of the box getting wet & clumping the powder). When I first started using this I expected a cloud of lung burning dust like my old detergent when I refilled my container. I was surprised & pleased that there was hardly any cloud & no smell. Also, when the dishwasher exhausts steam, there is no smell then either. The subscription price for this is great as well.Customer Review: green and clean

I was rather hesitant on purchasing this item since you have to buy in bulk on Amazon. But I checked on consumer reports and this was one of the top eco-friendly dishwashing detergents listed, so I bought it. I have been using this for 3 wks now and am pleased. There does not appear to be any issue with build up on glasses, etc. In addition, I have not noticed any etching on silverware. And I have hard water. If you are thinking about giving this a try I would very much recommend it. Most all of my cleaners are home made and "green". I have tried different things for dishwasher detergent, including making my own over the last 1 1/2 yrs and had not found anything I was satisfied with until now.
