Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Natural Fabric Softener, Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender Scent, Ultra-Concentrated, 40-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)Customer Review: Left marks on clothes Summary: 2 Stars
I used this and the detergent together and there were oil marks or something on my clothes. It happened a few times when I used this product. Otherwise it worked well.
Customer Review: Spots clothes, hardens into a solid in the washer?! Summary: 1 Stars
Finally decided to try this, after hearing great things about it. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me - at all. For record, I wash almost everything in cold water and dry on low heat (except towels, dishcloths, etc.) This fabric softener left oily spots (some quite large) on my clothes, especially shirts (mostly cotton blends). Not good. Also, after using this product, I'd find large, brittle white chunks in my washer with the clothes - sort of like thin, brittle white rocks. I was baffled - the only thing I can think is that it was the fabric softener, because it's never happened before, nor after I stopped using it. Perhaps due to the cold wash water? Not sure.
Also, this product leaves no scent on the clothes whatsoever. This may or may not be a detriment, depending on what you're after, but I'd prefer a light scent of *something*.
So I'm still searching for a good eco-friendly softener that meets my requirements - no spotting of clothes, no mysterious 'chunks' and a pleasant scent left over after drying.
Customer Review: I would Pass on this One Summary: 1 Stars
We bought this product recently. I was unimpressed with the cleaning. After looking further I saw that Seventh Generation had been caught for not disclosing all of the ingredients in their products. Consumer reports had an article on this.
Ironically, the company and its President, Mr. Hollander, brag about how their product discloses all of its ingredients, yet they don't even know the ingredients.
This is because Seventh Generation doesn't manufacture anything themselves. They outsource it, to who knows maybe a company in China. The bottom line is they don't know what is in it since they don't make it. They are simply a marketing company. Don't buy into the hype and be ripped off.
You can buy Tide Free & Clear or Method Products for a lot less. Unlike Seventh Generation, they make their own products and know what is in it.
Customer Review: DOES HEAT AFFTECT THE PERFORMANCE? Summary: 1 Stars
Besides filling my softner compartment in my front load washer to the max with this product it barely leaves a streak of softness after drying in my dryer. (Mind that i almost always use medium heat). Except for yesterday i happen to dry my clothes on a low heat heat setting and VIOLA! What do you know? My clothes came out as if i had put softener. Well, i didnt find that out until now, now that the bottle is almost empty.
Well, i'll try the heat setting thing again, and if it works then i'm happy and the solution to my problem is solved.
But if my theory is true that medium to high heat affects the performance of this product, if not totally eliminates the purpose, this is not a good thing, and an issue the Seventh Gneration needs to address.
Customer Review: Not as advertised Summary: 1 Stars
As noted by previous reviewers, this product smells good on wet clothes but the scent disappears after drying (even line drying). It also does nothing to control static cling. I actually wouldn't normally use fabric softener because it seems like just another unecessary chemical, but my teenager needs everything to have a strong perfume scent. She actually buys her own fabric softener (because I refuse) and I figured this is a better alternative, but it doesn't satisfy her olfactory desires. I won't buy it again.
