Customer Review: Skeptical Mom Now Convinced

I am mother of a 2 year old with hyper-sensitive skin. She gets itchy dry patches that come and go every few days, mostly on her legs but sometimes on her face and hands. One night she couldn't sleep because her legs were so itchy. I use Aquaphor faithfully, but try to use the steroid cream sparingly. In an effort to avert using the steroid cream, I bought organic crib sheets (since she spends 11 hrs per day on them) and bought the 7th generation free & clear laundry detergent. I rewashed her whole wardrobe in the laundry soap. That was one month ago. My daughter has not had any new dry patchs appear!!!
I was unsure about using unscented laundry soap since I LOVE the smell of lavender/vanilla TIDE. But the laundry comes out clean with NO smell. I am amazed!(we are going through the potty training stage). I have not had to rewash anything yet! I don't even use fabric softner or dryer sheets anymore.
I was also impressed with the statistics noted on the box explaining how it reduces oil comsuption.
I would recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin and anyone trying to switch to more environmently friendly products

I have been trying various organic washing powders for years. Even before organic was a household word. Some were pretty forgettable. I took a chance on Seventh Generation products figuring there must have been some improvement by now. Bingo, I won. Great product. The first box I bought wasn't HE for my front loader but I used it anyway and results were excellent. The next box I bought was the HE and it is just as good with fewer suds. I have the best ever wash. So good that I hang the clothes on the line here in sunny Arizona. I am so pleased that I am finally off petroleum based washing products. I have never heard that oxygen bleach is any problem to the environment. I don't have to buy it seperately. My front loader washer takes 2 tbsp of powder for a full load so this product is very economical. I also invested in a water softener when I moved to Arizona years ago. It was a necessity. Seventh Generation was a leader in non-petroleum based, non- toxic laundry soaps/detergents, and still has one the best products available. The unscented smells
like sunshine dried clothes; the scented one, light and attractive, not harshly repellant like so many strongly and toxically perfumed commercial ones.
My local supermarket stopped carrying this brand after many years. To get it tax and
shipping free was a boon. The four boxes will last about 2 years for a single person!
With the dollar dropping, and our economy nose diving, it's not a bad idea to stock up! I hope it benefits you, your clothes (they last longer without detergent build-up)your skin and your water supply.

I have used Seventh Generation Laundry Powder for 10plus years (since it was handled by Gaiam rather than Amazon). I have an alternative waste treatment system (similar to a septic tank but without the drainfield). I get my tank pumped every two years. The people who service the system keep marveling at how well the system works and how little cleaning and maintenance it requires. I smile and tell them, "It's the detergent!" So yes, it's great for the environment.

I bought this a couple months ago. We're a family of 2 who does laundry a couple times a week, using a high efficiency washer. This stuff works great! A third of a scoop or so, and the clothes come out clean, fresh, but unscented. I particularly like that it seems to last forever - we're about halfway down on the first box. It doesn't take much to get clean clothes with this detergent. I also like the completely unscented nature, the fact that I know every ingredient, and the fact that I don't have to worry about anyone having a reaction to it. A great detergent, shipped free, at a wonderful price.
