First let me tell you about the future of Healthcare! I took on new insurance after losing my job. They would not pay for my Crestor which is the only statin I have been able to tolerate. Prevacol = chest pains, Zocor = knees so sore I could not do stairs, and permantly numbed the left side of my face. Lipitor = Dental pain that was excrutiating. So I ask Highmark BC/BS what am I suppsed to do? Their answer was "Go on the South Beach diet". Being unemployed how can I afford meat? $1460 a month premiums = zero benefit. Get used to it. SLO-Niacin in my opinion is natures pipe cleaner. Mt first stent for 98% blockage when I was only 54 years old was accompanied by the warning "You have 2 other blockages of 50% which we will have to watch." My second stent at 58 years old was in the same place as the first, and was a buildup right on the first stent BUT I was told "I saw no other blockages over 30%" What that meant to me was the SLO-Niacin regimen was actually reducing old plaque in my arteries. My HDL was 63 on Crestor and SLO-Niacin. I will retest in 3 months to see what it is without any statins.
