Customer Reviews of Sound Oasis Travel Sound Therapy SystemCustomer Review: Travel Sound System Summary: 5 Stars
I, like apparently many of the other reviewers, CAN NOT sleep in a totally quiet room! Like several other reviews for this product I wasn't happy about the (I think) overly high price of the unit, but I have to say it does work great. I had no problem with the volume being too quiet as I'd read others mention. Level 4 to 6 was way more than adequate to me. The size is great for travel since I used to carry around a Home Medics battery/AC unit. Had two of them, both ultimately failed due to poor on/off- volume control design and breakage. I was concerned about the volume control with this unit after a review that mentioned problems, however never a problem for me in the last few months of owning and using it.
Some Pros- Long battery life, 4 AA batteries are still going after the two weeks of almost every night usage and the constant time display.
Great size for travel, easy to fit in just about any packing. Comes with a cover and power cord and adapters for different countries if you travel and want to plug it in. Switchable two time zones with one button is nice feature. Liked the 'lock' switch on the back of the unit. Kept from activating most features except the blue light on a time check if the snooze bar on top is pushed.
Some Cons- while nice, the blue light when unit is plugged in on AC is way too bright for me so I used it on battery the whole time, for $90 the 'night light' should be adjustable or be able to be turned off even when plugged in. Although better than many other units I've tried over the years the sound loop is STILL apparent and very annoying on some sounds. Actually there are too many sounds!, I could never sleep to some of the selections, just to noisy! I guess those are for those people that want 'background' sounds when they're awake.
Overall, this unit now goes whenever and wherever I travel. Yes it was too expensive, but it works great for me and I can get a good night sleep just about anyplace I go! What price do you put on the chance for a good nights sleep?
Customer Review: Escape from annoying sounds while out of town Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Sound Oasis Travel Sound Therapy System for several reasons. I am a very light sleeper and require complete quiet in order to have a restful sleep. If I stay in hotels when traveling, they are NEVER completely quiet, no matter how expensive they are or how many stars they have. When I travel with my dogs, my hotel accommodations change to the Motel 6 class, because they are the only ones I can count on to allow my dogs with me; the sound level becomes extremely unrestful at the motels. To add to the problem, my dogs themselves contribute, because they hear strange sounds, many more than I do, and alert to them constantly. I spend the whole night shushing them and calming them, and suffer even more with sleep deprivation (but I love them, anyway!). Obviously, we both need to hear something else when we are on travel. I thought the Sound Oasis might be a good solution. I can tell you, it really works. For myself, I set it to the birds in the tropical forest effect, and I fall asleep soundly in about 15 minutes. I can set it to run for 45 minutes to help me fall asleep or for longer, or all night long. I set it for all night long on travel, because the hotel sounds occur all night long. It keeps my dogs calm (unless a big commotion occurs outside, and I would definitely want ot be alerted to that). Additionally, when I go to breakfast in the morning without them, I put on the white noise effect, and they stay quiet without disturbing the other hotel guests while I am out of the room briefly for breakfast. I end up getting restful sleep, and I don't have to worry about getting booted out because of my dogs disturbing anyone. I am really pleased that the Sound Oasis works so well, and I bought a regular one for my bedroom at home to lull me to sleep (I only need that one to get me to sleep, so it runs for just the first 45 minutes, then shuts off automatically).
Customer Review: Wow! Why Did We Wait So Long? Summary: 5 Stars
I worked on the road for many years. Staying in different motels and hotels was not good for sleeping. I always used to turn on the fan of the air conditioning unit to generate white noise.
My wife and I currently live in a mobile home in south Texas during the winters. We have trains, planes, fire engines, birds, barking dogs and snoring partners. I was up at least twice each night if not more often. We decided to try a white noise machine. Since we do travel a lot it had to be portable and compact. After checking reviews at several online locations including Amazon, we decided to order the Sound Oasis machine. Why did we wait so long?
We've used it a week now and it is fabulous. It is very durably built and with 19 different sounds there are a lot of choices. Record your own unique sound for a total of 20. We both sleep through the night and are fully rested when we awake. Have tried 5 different sounds on the continuous mode. Even did the "Bamboo Chimes" last night. It sounds unbelievable that this would be conducive to sleeping but it worked great. Favorites are the "Stream" and the "Hidden Cove". The clock and alarm are easy to set. The sound quality is terrific for such a compact unit. The only thing I could add to this unit would be a AM/FM radio for the alarm.
Amazon had it delivered free to the door in a few days. Price was right for a quality machine.
Customer Review: perfect travel companion Summary: 5 Stars
I love this machine. Not only is it great for blocking out ambient noise that wakes up light sleepers like myself, it is also a travel alarm that allows me to choose some pleasant sounds to wake up to instead of a jarring alarm or beeping. Although it can run quite well on AA batteries, if you want the clock to stay lit through the night you'll have too plug it in to the wall. No problem there, though, because it comes with an assortment of outlet adapters for outlet configurations found throughout the world. Also displays the time in two time zones of your choice, as well as the current date. Oh, and yes it does have a headphone jack, which I use since my husband is a noisy sleeper. The volume through the headphones is louder than through the speaker, so that if you use headphones (use earbuds), you can set the volume on the lowest setting and thus save on battery use.
Great machine. A bit pricey, but I'm glad I bought it.
Customer Review: The perfect sounds to go to sleep to: Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this item because I have a hard time trying to sleep, my bedroom faces a very busy street. There is never a time when it is quiet. I love this product very much, because there are so many sounds that you can choose to listen to that will let you drift off to sleep. I could not be happier. It is also very nice to have a volume knob, and a timer, but I leave mine going until I am ready to get up, it is a great way to go to sleep and stay asleep. I also like the size of it, so it can travel very nicely. This was a very good purchase for me, and any one who has a hard time getting to sleep. I love it.
