Customer Review: L-Tryptophan works like magic

I used to dread bedtime because I knew it would take me over an hour to fall asleep and I would wake up at 3am. L-Tryptophan has had an unbelievable effect on me. I fall asleep quickly, I sleep very deeply, and I wake up completely refreshed and ready to spring out of bed. I still wake up a few times during the night (between 90-minute sleep cycles), but I fall back asleep easily. I'm much calmer and resilient during the day too. I don't get upset or stressed so easily anymore, but when I do I get over it much quicker (minutes rather than hours). I cannot overstate the positive effect this has had on my health and well-being.
You have to experiment with the dosage and the time of day. I take 1000mg between 7pm and 9pm, go to bed at 10:30pm, and wake up naturally between 5am and 6am (no alarm). I haven't carefully controlled taking it on an empty stomach, so I'm not sure if this is a factor for me. I took this dose for about a year. I wanted to find the minimum amount I needed, so I decreased it to 500mg for a few weeks. My sleep quickly deteriorated to its former dismal state. I went back to 1000mg and I'm sleeping like a log at the bottom of a lake again. I take capsules because tablets are hard for me to swallow. I wish there was a 250mg capsule; then I would try 750mg. Maybe I'll try a 500mg capsule and break 500mg tablets in half.
I believe Source Naturals is a good quality brand at a very good price. I've been taking it for a couple of years now and I trust the quality and consistency.
