Description of Spectra/Chrom Model 280 UV Detector 5 mm Pathlength - Dual Flow Cells - Model 142642
This fixed wavelength flow-through spectrophotometer is specifically designed for chromatography use. Ideal for routine UV detection and quantitation, the economic instrument is supplied ready-to-use with a detector for use at both 254 and 280nm, a digital display, a 5mm pathlength dual flow cell, and a cable for connection to a recorder. The instrument uses a long-life, low-pressure mercury lamp that offers 6000 hours of operation. Due to the short warm-up time of 10 minutes, the lamp can be turned off whenever not in use. The unit features a direct reading digital output and a dual beam optical system that allows the automatic subtraction of a solvent background even in the presence of a rapidly changing gradient. The instrument is cold room compatible, and can be used with three available flow cells. A 5mm pathlength dual flow cell is included with the instrument. It provides an illuminated volume of 34uL and a hold-up volume of 134uL per flow path. The optional 2mm pathlength dual flow cell provides an illuminated volume of 14uL and a hold-up volume of 54uL per flow path. The optional 10mm pathlength dual flow cell provides an illuminated volume of 68uL and a hold-up volume of 268uL per flow path. The optional connection cable connects the UV detector to the CF-1 Fraction Collector (see 21501-310 series) so that a tick mark will be placed on the chromatogram with every tube change and the peak separator in the fraction collector can be used to detect peaks.
