After buying one of these heating pads, feeling the incredible warmth that comes so quickly, enjoying it's flexibility, etc, I JUST BOUGHT A SECOND ONE. I already owned a Dunlop lower back heating pad with velcro straps and it doesn't come close to comparing with the excellent heat I get from this particular Sunbeam model. Now I have one in each of my chairs.
I use this heating pad for my lower back only (muscle pain, muscle spasms). It's perfect for me. I have not tried to use it to wrap around other areas of my body as the package shows. There are velcro attachments on each end with a separate extender, but I haven't used them.
It is high and wide and covers the back very well. My Dunlop heating pad was not tall enough to cover enough of the lower back. The size of this heating pad is one of it's distinct positive attributes.

I really like this heating pad! It is everything I wanted for the price and I am very satisfied. I think it gets hot enough and has really helped my back. I like how soft and flexible it is, and the velcro strap helps hold it nice and tight against your back for the best heat. I don't have many problems with my neck although I did use it there one time. It is harder to get around your neck because of the size, but it still felt good the way I had it. Some people complain about the 2 hour shut off, which I don't understand. My husband is forgetfull and doesn't turn them off, which is a fire hazard. I like that it turns itself off, and even if I am still using it, it is not a big deal to turn it back on and it heats up very quickly. We may buy another one as we fight over this one at night!!Customer Review: Great for targeting neck/shoulder pain.

I own both this heating pad and the sunbeam 885 model (the fuzzy green one). My wife, due to her small frame, prefers the 885 since this one won't sit right on her.
But for me, I'll wear the pad diagonally, across the trapezius (where neck slopes to shoulder) and connect the velcro strap so that the pad is tight against my body. As I have it, the pad's wider middle section runs up the side of my neck to just below my ear and across my shoulder.
Given its design, it is the best heating pad I have found for my needs - pain on left side of neck and upper back due to nerve impingment/ cervical disk degeneration.

Best heating pad I've ever used.
The thing gets hot, or warm or semi-warm or whatever you want. Consistently.
Has multiple digital timer settings with auto shut-off.
And it easily conforms to my shoulder, knee, elbow, back, neck . . . whatever I need it to.
Mine's a few years old and still works perfectly.
P.S. Amazon genius committee still hasn't figured out how to measure the heating pad. But they know how to measure the box it comes in. (the pad is 14" x 21")

This heating pad has been a great help for my back. I get stiff laying on my back for a long period of time. The greatest part of this pad is being able to strap it around me. Not only does this feature give me heat around more of my back but allows me to roll on my sides.
The people who say it doesn't get hot should return it for a new one. Mine gets hot on the lowest setting. The auto shut off is great because I have a tendency to fall asleep while laying on it. My Doc told me take it off every 2 hours for 20 min
