Customer Review: Bad Experience: hurt, left behind a glue-like residue and a bad rash

I'll admit, I am new to self-waxing at home. I have, however, been professionally waxed a few times with zero problems. I bought the Surgi-Wax strips solely based on all the positive customer reviews on Amazon. ON THE POSITIVE SIDE: the product arrived quickly, so I was very pleased with the shipping. I was also surprised to find that three (3) boxes were included in the purchase price. The good news is - the strips are very easy to use and easy to apply. I would highly recommend that you pre-cut the strips to the appropriate size to form around the contours of your upper lip. This will help accomplish a few things: (1) you can place the strips exactly where you need them, (2) you won't waste the portion of the strip that overlaps on a section you don't want or need waxed, and most importantly (3) the smaller the strip, the less painful it is to rip off. NOW FOR THE NEGATIVES: In my opinion, these strips should be either cut smaller, or contoured to fit the shape of the lip. Second, the instructions indicate you should warm the strips with your hands. This method doesn't get the wax warm enough to be effective. Third, the strips are painful AND leave a glue residue on your upper lip after ripping them off. Finally, the worst part of this product is that it left an ugly rash all over my top lip. I tried this product multiple times to see if it was a case of my skin merely getting used to this type of waxing - but after several attempts, I got a rash each time. For my face, I have previously used regular waxing with strips or hard wax with good results. I decided to try this and see if it would be a bit simpler. I read all the instruction, made sure my skin was clean and got started. Warmed them, applied them, let them sit a minute and then.....yanked. Some hair was removed and some hair was left behind. For me more of the finer hair was removed and the tougher ones stayed put. Also there was a sticky residue left behind. In the end I had to finish up with the tweezers to get all the hair removed. This product flat out does not work. I used it as directed and it did not remove one single hair. I would have given it zero stars if I had that option.
