My Uncle has been telling me about Probiotics for years and I kind of tuned him out. Part of the reason was the probiotics he takes are very expensive and I didn't want to spend a small fortune every month for a supplement I didn't know much about.
That all changed when I was diagnoosed with ulcerative colitis. I was desperate and was going to buy what he recommened. He told me to get something from Garden of Life which is very expensive. He also recommened that I purchase four of their other supplement prodocuts along with the probiotics. I was going to try and then I ran across Sustenex in Walgreens. It was very inexpensive, so I felt I had nothing to lose. Within 7 days, I noticed a big difference in how my stomach felt and although I still have issues with my disease, I am doing much better while taking this.
I also take something from Digestive Advantage called Colon Care which is specifically made for people with ulcerative colitis and Crhons disease.
Note Digestive Advantage is made by the same people who make Sustenex. I now take a Digestive Advantage pill in the morning along with my multi vitamin and a fish oil tablet. In the afternoon I take one Sustenex. I now have some bad days, but the good far out way the bad since staying on my diet and taking these supplements.
If you have an digestive issues, I highly reccomend giving these products a chance. I did and I'm glad I did. I hope this company never goes out of business becuase the products work for me and are reasonably priced. I don't want to spend a car payment for probiotics and supplements.

There is no doubt that a healthy gut is the key to health, the body can't heal itself without nutrients, and the nutrients can't be delivered if the gut is not working right - and that takes healthy flora (bacteria). Traditional societies the world over eat lots of fermented foods which is a natural source of healthy bacteria, but with modernization we now sterilize those traditional food sources (pasteurization) or use vinegar (pickles, ketchup), bakers yeast (sour dough) instead. Not to mention antibiotics. So there is no doubt supplements are a good idea.
I have taken these for a few weeks and am generally fairly sensitive to drugs. It's difficult to report on something so basic as gut flora, but I did notice a flush of energy after taking a capsule, which suggests the food in my gut was breaking down faster (or an immune system response). I didn't have any negative response at least. In any case, assuming these work as advertised, they seem like a good idea. Getting bacteria past the stomach into the gut with a pill is not always easy and these claim to do that. Recommended.

One thing I really like about this product is the effort they've made to help the beneficial bacteria survive your stomach acids to help deliver it live to your intestines where it can do some good. The bacteria are protected by multiple layers of natural organic material that protects the bacteria as they travel through the stomach.
Having enough beneficial bacteria in your colon is very good for your health and strengthens the ability of your immune system to fight off infections. Especially if you've recently had to take antibiotics, this is a fast way to recover the colonic flora you need for good health.
Sustenex delivers 2 billion bacteria to your colon per capsule!
It will help, of course, if you also eat enough fiber, because that's what these bacteria feed on. If you get the bacteria to your intestine and don't give them what they need to survive, it won't do you much good. But combined with fiber, this is a powerful but simple way to boost your health.

this product is fantastic. if anyone needs the daily boost of probiotics without eating a pound of yogurt every day, this is the thing for you. if you have colitis and want to get off of the steroids, make the transition slowly (and of course talk to your doctor). I am completely off the steriods and on one capsule of sustenex each day. amazon.com has the cheapest price i've found. it's almost double in drugstores for one box!
would definitely recommend!

I love this product, but a friend of mine turned me on to Shaklee probiotics. I have to say that they are even more effective than Sustenex! I never thought I'd make a switch, but the Shaklee probiotics are encapsulated in several layers and get the good bacteria to the small intestine - basically, they survive your stomach acid and get to where they need to go. The Shaklee dose doesn't contain as many bacteria because they can get the job done much more effectively. Have definitely noticed a difference in my digestion, etc. Very pleased with Sustenex, but Shaklee takes it to a new level and actually patented it because it was so good. Purchased them at this site: [...]. Have yet to try the prebiotic, but will. Worth the money!

Probiotics are the newest thing in health these days. Don't get me wrong, people have long known how important your gut flora is, and how harmful is the effect on this flora of antibiotics. I remember years ago, my mother having me eat yogurt after I finished a course of antibiotics - and I really dislike the taste of yogurt. In the past, the only way to rebuild the gut flora was through such foods as yogurt.
Well, with modern probiotics, such as Sustenex, you can get all of the benefits of yogurt, and even more(!) with a simple, daily capsule. Indeed, Sustenex provides some ten times as much beneficial bacteria as yogurt, and it is a mix of well respected bacteria. So, if you want to assist your digestion and general health, then get Sustenex with Ganeden-BC30. And if you have been on antibiotics, then you really must get this now!
