Customer Review: Good for the dorm
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this for my daughter who was moving into college. It's handy because she doesn't need to waste her space with bulky brooms and mops. Good product.

Customer Review: Okay as a duster, near useless as wet cleaning system
Summary: 2 Stars

Yes...sometimes even I do housework, shocking as it may seem to many I know (still it's not enough for wife...but that's another tale for another time). We bought the Swiffer starter kit some time ago, and finally I decided it was time to break it out. Considering how I normally detest having to drag out the bucket and sponge mop, I was hoping that this Swiffer solution would finally allow me to more or less retire the bucket to strictly car washing duties or yard work stuff and the mop to...well, wherever mops go to retire.

Wishful thinking, that.

Shortly after the first run through in the kitchen I noticed that there were definite streaking left on the laminate flooring as the impregnated cleaning solution left from the wet pad swipes dried off. Touching the floor I could feel grit; taking a wet paper towel I could wipe off grime and dirt that apparently all the Swiffer pad did was push it around some. Sure the once pristine white wet pad was dingy and disgusting looking after the so-called cleaning, but it didn't even come close to taking all of the dirt away. Even a session with a second wet pad left plenty of dirt behind, prompting me to resign myself to pulling out the bucket and sponge mop once again. Sorry guys, no retirement 4 u. I probably could have continued to use wet pad after wet pad until the floor was acceptably clean, but if I'd just stuck with the Pine-Sol, mop and bucket it would've been a one-pass deal. Not impressed at all.

The sweeping pads worked a tad bit better; they do a decent job of picking up dust but frankly we never had any problem rolling out our small cannister vac for these jobs so this bit of redundancy doesn't actually do much in the way of convenience for our household. Our hope of using a simplier wet cleaning system on our floors in the form of the Swiffer system have been thoroughly dashed, and we sadly (sob) continue to keep that old bucket and mop as members of our cleaning community.

1 1/2 stars.

Customer Review: May be OKAY for small, small, small area
Summary: 1 Stars

I was at Wal-mart and they had all the Swiffer products on sale - so I bought them all! I have a huge house, it is mostly ceramic tile. The Swiffer dry sweeper is horrible. I have no dogs, just me and my husband, and the dry sweeper rags would pick up and do a fine job, for about the first 5 foot square area, then it would just push around crumbs, etc. Basically it was like pushing around a broom - only much, much, much smaller head.

The mop. I had such high hopes for this. It takes me two hours a week to mop my house. But unfortunately, the "wet pads" dry up in just a few minutes and of course, they would not get into the grout. Then it left streaks on top it.

The duster. This is not "so bad", however i seem to be having problems getting the handles into the dust pad, seems to rip through the dust pad every time, no matter how carefully I try to be. It does a great job attracting the dust, etc though. However, it still cannot beat the rag and can approach by any means. Rag and can approach you get that nice shiny, you know it's clean look. This you get more the feeling that there is "no visible dust". Does work nice on my ceiling fans though!

Overall? I am going with my Shark cordless vac for sweeping, buying a steam vac for my floors and using my rag and can for dusting with the exception of using the Swiffer duster for my ceiling fans.

Customer Review: wet mop feature not recommended
Summary: 1 Stars

The handle is easy to assemble and both the wet and dry cloths are simple to attach. The dry cloths clean a floor about as well as a broom, but the wet cloths are terrible! Not only do they not clean the floor, but they dry out before even half of the floor has been mopped and they leave streaks everywhere! The floor looked much worse after using the wet cloths. I had to get out my regular mop and floor cleaner and go over the whole floor again to clean and remove the streaks. The floor still doesn't look as shiny as I like, but hopefully after a few more cleanings with my regular mop, it will be back to normal. Also, I find it wasteful to buy both dry and wet cloths for this product that can only be used once and then need to be thrown away. Bad for the wallet and the landfill. A regular broom, dustpan, mop, and floor cleaner work better than the Swiffer system.
