This kit is so cheap that everybody should own it. You can get replacement strips at Walgreens or Rite-Aid. Your doctor won't test your blood glucose unless you ask, or unless you go in there with raging diabetes symptons. So do it yourself, cheaply, whenever you want. There are plenty of kits out there. Guess what? Nobody who's in the biz of making glucose meters does a crappy job of it. They don't have the Junior College scientists making their stuff. This cheap kit is as good as a $40 one. I have both. Get it, use it, find out.
Anybody, diabetic or not, should know his/her blood sugar. It's so easy. If your fasting glucose (morning, before you eat) is over 100, worry, or go to your doctor and say, "why don't you ever test me for this?" If it's over 120, there's a good chance you're diabetic. Scary, but all you have to do is limit your carbs to 50g (about 200calories) a day and you'll be able to manage your sugar without drugs. Get the book, BLOOD SUGAR 101, by Jenny K.
