Tanita's HealthyTrack is based on Tanita's patented Step Down Goal Weight Tracking technology. First, the scale automatically establishes your Ultimate Goal Weight based on the ideal Body Mass Index (BMI) that you will strive to meet. (Always consult your doctor before you start any weight management program.) Then, once your goal weight has been established, the HD340 divides the Ultimate Goal Weight into smaller, attainable steps. By setting these steps, the scale helps to keep you motivated day-to-day as you work to meet your ultimate weight loss goal. The scale tracks the progress of your weight change and shows a percentage toward your goal weight with a bar graph. Rewards and progress are displayed for each step-by-step achievement towards your ultimate goal weight.

Because everyone is unique in how they set their goals, this scale allows users to choose from three different modes to fit any comfort level:

• Classic Mode has an LCD display with your actual weight, weight change (loss/gain) from previous reading, weight change (loss/gain) since the start of your program, percent achieved toward the "target goal weight," and the total percent achieved with each step.
• Weightless Mode is a unique and patented mode that allows you to maintain your actual weight in privacy from other household members. By selecting this mode, your actual weight is not displayed; instead you only see your progress. All other features from the classic mode continue to be displayed.
• Weight Only Mode is a scale setting that makes the HD340 function like a regular bathroom scale -- just tap the middle of the scale to turn it on. It includes a recall function which displays the past 12 readings by date to help monitor your progress.

The HD340 has a large backlit LCD (2.5 by 6.5 inches) that makes it easy to view your results in one of the three modes.
