Customer Reviews of Taylor of Old Bond Street Rose Shaving Cream in a BowlCustomer Review: Better than "canned" cream Summary: 4 Stars
I thought I would add my review here, just note that this is probably a good alternative to cans. Lots less "packaging" and it really does last a long time. Of course, I'm an infrequent user (typically shave only 1-2x per week) and as a woman, I'm not using for facial shaving. But I bought a jar last year, and it is still more than halfway full. It doesn't leave rust stain circles on my tub or shower, and it won't squirt out by accident in the suitcase when traveling. I also like that I can see how much is in the jar so I will know exactly when to order another. I might try one of the other scents (maybe the avocado?) but the rose scent is nice enough. I'm not sure if this qualifies as "liquid" for purposes of carry-on luggage, so I've not tried that (when I bought it, I was looking for "solid" products, such as shampoo "soap" and shaving bars so that I could put them in carryon luggage. SInce it's kind of a thick jello-cream kind of product, I didn't try putting it in a carry on yet).
Customer Review: Taylor vs. Art of Shaving Summary: 4 Stars
This review is based on application with a shaving brush. Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream measures up pretty well against my favorites, Art of Shaving and Truefitt and Hil. The rose scent of Taylor is quite accurate; even better than Truefitt. The consistency of the Taylor product is stiff as opposed to the creamy texture of the other two. You'll need to "dig out" the Taylor cream. You won't be able to get a dab on your finger. It will take quite a bit more product than either Art of shaving or Truefitt and Hill creams to get the same amount of lather. I doubt I'll get the usual six months out of a bowl of Taylor like I do with the others. But then, it is about $6 cheaper than Art of Shaving and about $14 less than Truefitt. The texture of the cream once spread using a brush is a little stiffer than the others and a bit dryer. Still, it is quite satisfactory.
Customer Review: Good for once in a while Summary: 4 Stars
This is pretty good shave cream. The lather is very nice and thick, it is effective for a quality straight-razor shave. Sometimes I am really in the mood for this fragrance, but I find that if I use it too often, I grow a little tired of the scent. It does completely wash off, so you don't need to worry about smelling like roses all day. It's good to have around, for once in a while.
Customer Review: Really Drys Your Skin Out But Smells Good Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this stuff after reading the reviews. I was debating between this and Geo Trumper. This one was cheaper so I bought it. A good amount comes with it and it smells pretty good. I was expecting the smell to be over powering and hoping that it would be but it only has a light rose smell. I was kind of disappointed with that but some people may actually enjoy that trait. It does latter really well, the only thing is that it really dries your skin out afterward. I previously used neivia and a mach 3 and that was fine, but even after putting after shave on with this stuff it still feels dry. If you have dry skin, I would personally try something else. I think next time I am going to get the Geo Trumper one.
