I've been using this salt pipe since August. In the last four months, I have only had to use my inhaler (Albuterol) seven times -- and not once this month. This does not offer instant relief. It is a long-term treatment. But since I've been using it regularly, the relief I have experienced has far surpassed my hopes and expectations...and the relatively low cost of this item.
A little background: I have had asthma since childhood, often triggered by my many and varied allergies -- for example, say, cats.
This past July, I took in three young kittens. They were adorable, but as you can imagine, they wreaked havoc with my asthma. I was using my inhaler 5-10 times daily, just to be able to breathe, compared to a few times a week during peak allergy seasons. It was hell.
So I began a desperate search for some relief. I searched all over, researching different treatments and remedies. When I stumbled upon this "salt pipe" phenomenon, I was skeptical. It sounded like informercial material. But after reading reviews and information on a number of websites, I decided it was worth a shot. I was, after all, desperate.
After using it 25 minutes a day for the first 20 days as indicated, I have nearly since stopped using my Albuterol inhaler almost completely, reserving it for emergencies. This salt pipe is not fast acting, but in many cases, if my asthma is not too severe to use it, I can just sit down for a bit and breathe through this to clear my respiratory system. It absolutely works.
As for the cats, they are still adorable (although they are a lot bigger,) and I am overjoyed that I can keep them around AND breathe. And I know that if I continue to use the salt pipe for 20 minutes a day, all four of us may have many more years together.
