Customer Review: Stays warm for a good amount of time + provides MOIST heat

After buying a lot of lousy products locally, following a trip to the Emergency Room for my wife's extremely painful Salivary gland infection, I can across this item and decided to give it a try. The other items we found either wouldn't stay hot very long or, quite frankly, stank. We even tried some expensive 'Clay technology" hot/cold compress invented by an Ex-NASA guy - it stinkiest of them all! UGH! There were no hot water bottles to be had at any local drugstores either. When I found this on Amazon, I hoped for the best but expected the worst. The product came within 2 days and since Salivary Infections such as hers don't go away easily, she's still using it two and a half weeks later. She gets so much relief from both the swelling and the pain after just one sustained use. We were thrilled. This is the only thing that allows her to get any rest or sleep when she's between doses of antibiotics and the swelling is beginning to return OR is she has been sitting up for a couple of hours, trying to do normal chores.
This is a fantastic product with no odors that we can detect. Because the area she needs covered is smaller than most, after I heat it up for her in the microwave, she will often tie one end into a loose knot and then wrap it in a tea towel since the beads inside continue to heat up for a while even after you take it out. AFter just a few minutes, she can remove the tea towel and apply the moist heat directly under her chin and on the side of her face. She uses the Comfort U Pillow -For Total Body Support for other pain issues but it's great for this too because she can sleep on her side with the Moist Heat product between her and the pillow, tucked in perfectly for relief, and finally catch some sleep.
One thing I would recommend before use is to read the instructions carefully and double-check the wattage on your Microwave too. Pay close attention to how you are supposed to handle the thing if you have to fold it over and even closer attention to how to RE-HEAT the thing if you need more heat application against the painful area. You do NOT just repeat the first set of instructions. That could cause the whole thing to explode! You use less time. Eventually you'll get the hang of it. Since it's fairly inexpensive, I would suggest buying 2 of them at the same time in case one gets soiled by sweat or in my wife's case, a little bit of saliva. You have to wash these by hand and then let then dry out naturally. So you can see how having one clean one on hand during the washing of the other might come in handy. My wife also suggests that this would be an excellent way to relieve menstrual cramps and I would bet that the lady of the house would not want to share her Cramp Relief heat compress with the athlete of the house. Get two - you won't regret it.
Finally, I would say that having a couple of these on hand for those injuries or serious infections such as my wife's Salivary Gland thing would be good thinking ahead. People tend to pull muscles, throw out their backs or over do it a bit too much at inconvenient times & hours. I wandered around, wasting half a day trying to find something to ease my wife's severe discomfort, swelling and pain with the best local stores could offer being stick on menthol pads, homeopathic nonsense, giant plug in heating pads and creams made with Cayenne pepper. I did find something at target that was a Gel but it exploded in the microwave. This Thermalon Compress has held up to regular daily use now for, as I mentioned, two and a half weeks with no signs of wear and tear other than it getting a little dirty. I'm very impressed with this product's affordability and it's ability to relieve pain & swelling. I was even more impressed with the fact that is gives off NO ODOR AT ALL when heated. Every household needs one or two of these in their First Aid kit.
