I must say I love this otoscope and am definitely impressed. I can see the eardrum every bit as clear as I can with my larger Professional W/A Otoscope (very expensive) not to mention it also clips neatly in my pocket. So far I have owned it over 6 months and I have yet to replace the batteries (I have used it fairly frequently). The battery savings alone should be substantial over time since it uses the LED light. The only complaint I have is that it took me a bit to figure out how the disposable specula fit on the otoscope. At first I thought these would not work but I was trying to place them over the re-usable specula that came with the otoscope. I finally decided to look at the directions (I am a man) and now I understand how these fit. I guess the intent was mainly to market this otoscope to home users who would just clean the 3 sizes of specula that come with it to be re-used again. The disposable specula do not slip on as easily as my pocket Welch Allyn model but for the price and other advantages this otoscope offers I am still very happy with my purchase. I have not found a small portable otoscope anywhere that works as well as this one and being a medic portable is what I need. Also nice that LED lights are impervious to shock or sudden movement unlike halogen bulbs.Customer Review: A Must have for any parent with a child who has chronic ear infections.

The Dr. Mom L.E.D. Pocket Otoscope is a must have product if you are a parent of a child with chronic ear infections. I have a daughter who has had chronic ear infections her whole life. I checked my daughter's ears with the Dr. Mom otoscope a few days before leaving on vacation, to find that I could not see one her tubes and I also did not like the coloring of the ear drum. Her E.N.T was able to work us in before we left on a two week long vacation to the beach and a water park. It turned out that, her one tube had fallen out and the ear was already getting infected, without this product we would have been out of state when the pain in her ear would have been bad enough for her to complain; she would have been absolutely miserable on vacation, but since I was able to catch it early we were able to leave on vacation with ear drops and an antibiotic to treat the ear infection. It saved us from an expensive trip to an out of state doctor or ER for an ear infection and she was able to enjoy the vacation.
This is a wonderful and easy to use product. The L.E.D. light is very bright and it is small and compact easy to pack and travel with.

I just received the Dr. Mom Otoscope. I am a nurse and I view ears daily in a clinic... this is a really nice product! With the proper size specula, you get a perfect (and bright) view of the tympanic membrane! And it really is as good a view as you get with the expensive professional wall models!
I had purchased a cheap plastic otoscope for home from a local drugstore (around $13 a few years ago) which did not work well, it was very dull even with fresh batteries and I hated the contact switch that turned it on and off. The Dr. Mom otoscope had rave reviews and looked like it was a decent quality item. So, I figured for just a few dollars more, this one HAD to be better.
What a nice surprise to receive a product that is BETTER than I expected! I can now get a bright and clear view of any irregularities in my childrens' ears as soon as they begin to complain! I also like the on/off button at the bottom of the otoscope, that the bulb is guaranteed and that the AAA batteries are easily purchased anywhere.

I am very impressed with this little otoscope. This is the second one I have purchased this time to give to my sister in law for use with her child who is very prone to ear infections. I myself am a pediatrician and found out about this otoscope when a patient brought one in with her child to have me help her with it's use. I have to admit when I first saw the otoscope I was not expecting too much but was totally blown away when I looked in her child's ear and realized I could see as clear if not clearer with it than I could with the very expensive professional model otoscope I was using in my office. The light is very bright with excellent magnification and optics provided by it's lens which gives you a very clear view of the tympanic membrane.
Granted I would not recommend an otoscope to every parent that comes in my office but for those I feel who will take the time and have the patience to learn to use one they can be a very helpful in monitoring the state of a child's ear health. I do not think you will find a better value in an otoscope when you consider functionality and price. Heather S. M.D.

I ordered this otoscope along with a larger professional model otoscope for office use. I purchased this otoscope to use as an inexpensive pocket model I could keep in my coat pocket during hospital rounds. I have to say I am extremely impressed with how well it works and how clearly I can visualize the tympanic membrane on both adult and pediatric patients. The otoscope is very light weight and comes with a pocket clip to keep it securely in your pocket when not in use. I have used it over 4 1/2 months on a fairly regular basis and still have not had to replace the batteries. The LEAD light is extremely bright and also works well for doing an oral-pharyngeal examination. Overall I rate the otoscope a very good value for the money spent. It has saved me lots of time not spent running all over the nurses station looking for a flashlight and otoscope when doing an initial physical exam on a newly hospitalized patient. Definitely well worth the small price I paid for the instrument.
