Every dentist visit involved a whole lot of tarter scraping (a whole lot), and the dental hygenist recommended this mouthwash. She said she had a tarter problem too and this stuff really worked for her. So I tried it, and my last dentist visit had a whole lot less scraping. It's worth a try.
