I tried several different training/sippy cups with our child and she wouldn't consistently take any of them until we found the Born Free training cup. The spout is very soft and pliable. They do a pretty good job of not letting fluid leak out of the spout's tip when your child tips the cup upside down (or throws it), but a small amount may leak out if there is a little pressure on the spout. The amount of suction required for the child to get fluid out of the cup is much less than with other sippy cups. This may be what made it easier for our child to transition to it from the bottle. I like that the cup may be used with or without the handles (they slip on over the opening of the cup and are held in place when the spout ring is screwed on. The valve under the spout is simple and very easy to clean.
