Customer Review: The BEST Disposable out there

We typically use cloth diapers, but as our son got older the cloth diapers didn't work so well over night, if he was to get a good nights sleep. Otherwise, he'd wake up every couple of hours crying because he was wet -- so we had to find a safe alternative.
Having temporarily used regular diapers, even the fragrance free kind were awful and had a terrible smell, not to mention all the chemicals and leaving behind hard to remove gel residue (little globs) all over my son. We found 7th Generation diapers, and they worked well until they changed the ingredients and made the tabs wider. The new diapers stunk horribly once wet, left behind LOTS of gel globs and the tabs would curl over and scrape our son's tummy while he crawled -- so those had to go quick!
We found Tushies Tendercare dipes (with gel) -- and they worked great -- no smell, very little gel residue and chlorine free. But it did still bother me to have the gel and its chemicals (although probably the safest out there) agaist his delicate little skin.
So I recently found these Gel-free wood pulp and cotton blend dipes. We tried a 4 pack and I am very pleased with the results, all except the overnight use for our 15 month old.
These dipes probably will work just fine for up to 6 months or so, depending on the baby and how much they wet at night. But for our son, a tummy sleeper and heavy wetter at night, they just can't hold up all the way through and about 65% of the time we have a pee-out by morning, which adds to the laundry and sometimes wakes him up early because he's soaked.
Overall, I am VERY PLEASED with how these dipes perform. They seem to be about 80-85% as absorbent as the Tendercare gel diapers, which is to be expected, and still perfectly good enough for daily use. For us, the fact that they allow the baby to feel wet once saturated is a huge bonus for potty training. Our son will sign "diaper change" or cry to let me know he's wet or messy if I haven't caught it already.
The diapers don't 'feel' wet until saturated, which for my son is about 2-3 hours give or take. Night time requires that we do not put this diaper on him literally until he is going to bed. Otherwise, we're guaranteed a pee out in the early morning. But on average, with my heavy wetter, these dipes will last anywhere from 7-10 hours. So depending on your baby, they may or may not hold up to nighttime use without a mid-night change, doubling up or using an insert. But again, I think they will do perfectly well for younger babies, until the bladder gets considerably bigger!
