Customer Reviews of Udo's Choice Infant's Blend Probiotic 2.64-OuncesCustomer Review: Helps my tot be 'regular' Summary: 5 Stars
My tot occasionally has constipation, I put this in her morning drink and it helps achieve some 'action' later in the day. I also use it when she has diarrhea to firm things up! It's very easy to use since there is no taste.
Customer Review: Excellent Product Summary: 5 Stars
My baby is a year old and hasn't been sick yet. I think it's because I routinely give her probiotics.
Customer Review: Good for baby! Summary: 4 Stars
My 13 month old son burped really loud the first two times he drank his milk with the probiotic in it. I think maybe that was a sign that it was doing something helpful for his digestion . . . maybe getting rid of something that was causing gas, as taking an antacid does that too. Just a guess, but I would recommend it. It's been proven that probiotics help with preventing allergies and raise the levels of nitrogen in the body so that vitamin B's are utilized better. B vitamins are so vital to health and brain functioning/development. They're now adding probiotics to all formulas for younger babies, so I feel better making sure he's still getting probiotics along with the vitamins that I add to his (organic) whole milk. The only complaint that I would have is that it needs to be refrigerated so I am sure it got too warm during transit and lowered the amount of live cultures. I have ordered probiotics in the past that had those little frozen packs that you use in small coolers, in the box. This is a great idea Amazon!
Customer Review: Udo's can be left unrefrigerated, short time Summary: 3 Stars
I looked up the Udo's site, because I'm interested in the product, but am wary about the un-refrigeration. Most strains need to be kept cool for efficacy. Here's a quote from Udo's:
"Refrigeration ensures maximum potency and stability, however Udo's Choice Probiotics can be left unrefrigerated for short periods of time, making them convenient for travel. All Udo's Choice Probiotics may be frozen to further extend shelf life."
3 stars because you have to give stars for a review. Hope this helps others. But...I'm still wary about how long the seller may be leaving these on a 'warm' shelf.
Customer Review: Wonderful product, but may be arriving mostly dead due to inproper storage and shipping Summary: 1 Stars
I will continue to buy this product for my child. And after reading about the benefits of probiotics in the journal Pediatrics, I will continue to and may add other strains that have been clinically tested (I don't think these have been yet?) But I have stopped buying this from Amazon due to Udo's website warning that large percentages of the bacteria die when not refrigerated. I know Amazon doesn't ship it cooled, so I'm also assuming they don't store it cooled. And I have no idea how long they store it, which could mean we're getting only a portion of the benefit paid for.
"We can assume a 2%-4% decrease per month if the product has been kept refrigerated, for example 30 billion viable cells at a 2% decrease will contain 23.5 billion viable cells after 12 months. If left at room temperature, for 30 days an encapsulated product will experience a 20%-40% decrease in bacterial count."
I'm sure Amazon will act to correct this, and when they do I'll come back. In the mean time, google the product +cooled or check out iherb.com and others who store and ship it correctly.
