Customer Reviews of UltraBiotics Ultra 10 Probiotic Formula Capsules, 100-Count BottleCustomer Review: Hard to tell if it works or not Summary: 3 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have been taking this pill for over three weeks. Have not noticed any difference, but I will keep taking it since it won't hurt me either. I will revise my review if it turns out to provide long term health benefit in the future.
Customer Review: I EAT BUGS!! :-) Summary: 2 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am a Body Ecology Coach and a HUGE emphasis of our diet is probiotic rich foods. Being half Asian, I grew up drinking and consuming cultured (fermented - cultured with natural probiotics) all of my life. Now being a coach, I teach others how to make their own Young Coconut Kefir and Cultured Vegetables. Along with that, I have also taken various brands of probiotics. Some in pill form, powder or liquid form.
In a nutshell, I've learned that 80% of our immune system is based on how healthy our 'gut' is. Meaning the healthy balance between good microflora and 'bad' microbes. (Probiotics vs yeast like Candida and other pathogens). We're always going to have some bad guys in our gut but ideally, if we're healthy and consume probiotic rich foods or supplements and a healthy diet then we're supposed to keep all of this in checks and balances.
To explain where I'm going with this, microflora 'eat' sugars. If they don't get fed, then they die. So when making something like Young Coconut Kefir, they'll consume the natural sugars in the coconut water, turn the coconut water a bit fizzy and sour - like a soda or champagne and multiply to do their 'work' in your gut. I've experimented using different strains of probiotics from various starters, capsules, etc to see how strong the batches of my cultured drinks are, how they taste and especially how they transfer (to see how hardy the strains are to then make subsequent batches).
Keeping an open mind, I realize that since I've been consuming these types of foods that I already may (hopefully!) have a nice healthy balance of microflora in my gut so MAYBE this is why I didn't notice much change after taking the entire bottle. HOWEVER when I decided to break open a couple of the capsules and tried to use it to ferment a jar of Young Coconut Kefir and compared it to a different batch that I KNOW is viable and works, I didn't notice much with the batch that I used the UltraBiotics with. It not only took several days longer to culture but it also never really got rid of all the sweetness from the coconut water which leads me to believe that either the strains didn't survive their transport somewhere along the line from the mfg plant to me OR they simply weren't processed in a way to KEEP them viable. I decided to toss the batch out in case 'other' microbes that I didn't want to consume also grew in there since it took much longer.
Taking it orally, I stopped taking my other brands of probiotics that I generally will alternate since I really wanted to like this brand. I needed to see if this brand had any effect on me at all. Unfortunately, I noticed NOTHING. Not even anything negative...sometimes when taking new combinations of strains or new strains to you, as the microflora 'do it's work' and try to settle in, you may be a bit gassy or your tummy may be a bit 'gurgly' for a few days but I noticed NOTHING at all.
I'm sorry but I was disappointed since I REALLY LOVE the combination of strains that they included in this formula. The TYPE of strains that they included are incredibly hardy and if you took the time to study about some of the strains, you'd see that science has been able to identify that some are beneficial for specific illnesses.
I was hoping to add another brand / blend of probiotics to my personal regimen so I was excited to review these for Amazon but I do have to say that ESPECIALLY since I finished the entire bottle AND tried to see if this formula could culture some coconut water for me and wasn't impressed with either 'experiment' that I can't justify paying for another bottle to see if perhaps maybe I just had a bad batch.
Why 2 stars? Again, I must stress that I really think that this company did a great job in researching a really great combination of probiotic strains, I love that they put it all in an enteric capsule so it's supposed to get past your stomach acids and reach the intestines where it's supposed to work. HOWEVER, whether their formula just isn't stable at room temperatures OR if MY particular bottle was perhaps caught up in extreme heat during the transportation process, it simply didn't work for me so I can't recommend it.
If I ever have an opportunity to try a different batch of their probiotic formula and if I notice anything different, I'd be more than happy to update my review on UltraBiotics Ultra 10.
Customer Review: Probably effective for others ~ just not for me Summary: 2 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I acknowledge all the benefits of probiotics which the other reviewers have touted here before me and I concur, but though this particular product is effective for them, it has not been for me.
Suffering with a debilitating chronic illness which has greatly compromised my immune and digestive systems, I have become a bit of a probiotic aficionado. I have used many different products over the past 10 years, some great, some not so great, and some totally ineffective. Unfortunately UltraBiotics Ultra 10 falls into the latter category. This product is probably great for others, it's just not for me.
I should preface the rest of my review by saying that I am a vegan with a serious dairy allergy and a soy intolerance. The Ultrabiotics formula which I am reviewing for the Vine comes in an enteric coated, gelatin capsule rather than veg-cap and contains both dairy and soy (although it is free of yeast, corn, wheat, salt, citrus, fish and preservatives.) This may be why I've had poor results with UltraBiotic Ultra 10 but I rather suspect that the product's integrity was compromised during shipping.
I live in Florida and my order was shipped from Nevada. It is the middle of summer, the US has been under a heat wave and, not surprisingly, the order arrived hot. My first concern was that the viability of the 10 strains of probiotics was destroyed by heat. Since I have been taking this probiotic for almost a week now and have seen no improvement whatsoever in my digestion problems or regularity, I have no doubt that the product is now useless. Some of my issues have actually worsened if anything.(Severe bloating, gas, constipation.)
Unless a probiotic supplement specifically states on the label that it does not require refrigeration, and UltraBiotics does not (it says "Keep in a cool dry place), I think that buying an unrefrigerated probiotic without cool-packed shipping is like throwing away the probiotic and the good money spent on it. With that said, I should add that Ultra 10 is very expensive.
For others who might prefer a less expensive, vegan probiotic which specifically does not require refrigeration, I suggest Iflora Multi Probiotic 60 Capsules or Jarrow Formulas - Jarro-Dophilus Eps, 4 billion, 60 veggie caps, both available here at Amazon and a very good value. Another great product which I like to recommend is Udo's Choice Adult's Blend Probiotic 60 Capsules but this probiotic must be refrigerated. Although it too is available here at Amazon for a good price, I suggest you purchase this one from the cooler at your local health food store to ensure that it keeps its integrity.
Again I cannot recommend Ultra 10. I'm sorry about that and I'm sure it's probably great for others, it's just not for me.
Customer Review: Did nothing for me. Summary: 2 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Ultra Biotics "Ultra 10" didn't do anything for me.
The label on the bottle states: Formulated with 10 strains of probiotics, may help boost immune system, aids digestion, promotes regularity.
Direction indicated as a dietary supplement to take one capsule daily with a glass of water, preferably with a meal.
I did as directed, taking one capsule every morning with my breakfast and drinking an extra glass of water to help.
I did this for 3 weeks (21 days).
I would then say I saw no effective change in my overall well being, my general health, digestion, or regularity.
But then again I wasn't having any problems in any of these areas to start with.
I realize that these are just my results and your mileage may vary, but taking these probiotics really did nothing for me, but I had nothing to complain about to start with.
I give two stars because I received no benefit from taking this supplement, but at least it didn't have any negative affects on me.
If you do have issues then this item may help, but I would suggest checking the other reviewers and see their reviews.

I tried these as a free sample through the VINE program. I've used probiotics for my animals in the past and was interested to see if this product could improve my health. Unfortunately, I had a very bad reaction-- lots of stomach pain and cramping for two days.
While I understand that "correlation is not causation", timing strongly suggested to me that the culprit was these tablets. I ended up feeling like this was a very dumb move (trying a medical product without a doctor's recommendation), and won't take another dose.
