I used to take these mutli-vitamins back when I was still lifting. This was when I was seventeen up until twenty. I started out without even taking a multi when I first started. Six months later I was still getting really sore. Getting sick of this I started searching around for multi's. I tried all of the other stuff, centrum for men, I tried Nurtitox, AST, etc. They did help, but then when I was eighteen and had shed quite a bit of body fat and gained some muscle as well as strength I got into powerlifting. Those vitamins no longer cut it. I ended up going onto a fitness forum (I was all ready at bodybuilding.com), it was musclemag, or ironmag or somthing like that. A lot of the big names in powerlifting and bodybuilding post there, Ryan Kennelly, Sgt. Rock etc. Anyway I got to talking to Sgt. Rock and him being an animal of course he suggested Animal Pak by universal.
I started taking this stuff, and man. It really helps out with the nutrient depletion your body goes through. I was able to go from doing a 3 day a week power lifting regimen to a 5 day a week powerlifting regimen. (The other two days were for muscular hypertrophy and just generally getting blood pumped to the muscles for faster healing etc. Individual muscle concentration days I guess you could call it) Anyway, as we all know using our muscles causes them to have micro tears and our body quickly withing 48 hours heals these and adds a bit extra tissue. When this happens our body has to use nutrients, when those are depleted and unrepleneshed we start to get weaker. Which eventually leads to constantly being sore, overtraining, no longer having any type of muscular gains and you can actually start to atrophy if the nutrients aren't put back.
A lot of people would have you believe that we can "only absorb a certain amount and the others are wasted" this is true, 100%; however, only to a certain extent. You see if I use 10% of what nutirents my body has, I'll absorb 10% needed to replenish possibly a little more for extra reserve. (Your body is smart and will compensate just in case you don't get that extra). So me using 10% of my nutrients of course my body has only absorbed that much, the extra is wasted. However, someone using say 50-60, the body is going to take that 50-60 from the nutrients and then get even more in reserve for "the next time", "if it happens again". Think of how a bodybuilder eats 5-6 meals a day 2-3 hours apart, it's constant fuel, the body stores less bodyfat because of this, less calories are wasted even though they are getting way more than the average person. (Of course there is the weight training involved so they need the extra calories) However, take that same body builder, feed him the same calories in one meal a day, and he is most likely going to get fat. I'm just saying this for the sake of adaptation that our body does. If you use a vitamin with less stuff in it, it's going to be harder to get what else you need through natural foods.
Also if you know your stuff, you know certain things are easier assimilated by the body by having pairings such as Calcium and Vitamin D, we all know this correct? Animal Pak is formulated for maximum absorbtion. Just look it up and you will see, you definitely are not wasting your money with this product, and getting 44 paks, which is a little less than a month and a halfs worth for 25 bucks. Not a bad bargain if you ask me. Compare the values of these with others and well, it outshines by far.
So in conclusion, these multis are fantastic. They are top of the line, you will not be wasting your money by getting this. The whole universal line is superb, whether you are getting the multis, the training paks, or the liver tabs, the protein powders are quite pricy but they are also very very very very good. I hope this helps a lot of people looking into this product.
Try it out, you will love how much better you feel, even if you aren't a body builder, and just want to take these as a regular multi for the average joe, you will be pleasantly surprised with this.
