Ok. This thing is SOOOOOO worth the money. In fact, I'd pay $250 for it and still think it was a great deal. Holding one foot up off the ground at all times takes a lot of patience and stamina... more than you think it would. I broke my foot training for a triathlon and was told to go non-weight bearing for 6 weeks so it could heal. So I'm in really good shape cardiovascularly. But this is tough in its own way. Having the knee walker has saved me. Its saved my arms from crutches. There are few, if any balance issues like you have with crutches. You can move fast, you can carry things in one hand easily and steer with the other. It doesn't put undue stress on your shoulders like crutches do. Plus, when I am sitting in a chair, I adjust the cart next to my seat and can support and elevate my foot on the cart too. So it serves a double function... You can't do that with crutches...
This would be perfect for someone who is older or for someone who is not in good shape because it just takes less energy to operate than crutches. Also, older people who may have considered a wheelchair instead of crutches have an alternative to consider with this. Its limited to foot, ankle, and maybe below the knee injuries because it requires that you rest your knee on the pad. So if you have a broken femur or a blown out knee, this probably won't work for you.
Its cool too. People look at you using it and think "wow! how cool and smart to use that!" You feel more independent with this too because its easier to move around the house and to stand with it (propping your knee on the cart of course). Give it a try. You'll be glad you did!
